Did you know that the Honey Buzzard (Honey Eagle) doesn't use its massive talons to hunt rabbits or mice? Instead, it specializes in raiding underground wasp and hornet nests!
To survive hundreds of angry stings, it has evolved special scale-like armor feathers around its face and eyes. It is also smart enough to capture a single wasp, bite off its stinger, and follow its flight path back to locate the hidden colony. It then uses its feet to dig up the nest and eat the larvae like popcorn.
هل تعلم أن "حوام النحل" (والذي يُعرف أحياناً بعقاب العسل) لا يستخدم مخالبه القوية لاصطياد الأرانب أو الفئران؟ بل هو متخصص في مداهمة أعشاش الدبابير والزنابير الأرضية!ولكي ينجو من مئات اللسعات الغاضبة، طوّر هذا الطائر ريشاً خاصاً يشبه الدروع الحرشفية حول وجهه وعينيه لحمايته. كما أنه ذكي جداً؛ حيث يقوم بالإمساك بدبور واحد، ويقضم إبرة اللسع منه، ثم يتتبع مسار طيرانه ليعرف مكان المستعمرة المخفية. بعد ذلك، يقوم بحفر الأرض بقدميه ليلتهم يرقات الدبابير وكأنها مقرمشات!إنه بحق صياد لا يعرف الخوف!
