Spotlight on Pasig City's most bemedalled athlete for Palarong Pambansa 2026

Gymnast Tchelzy Mei Maayo of VCIS Homeschool Global won medals in all events in Women's Artistic Gymnastics - gold medals in Team All-Around, Vault, Uneven Bars, and Floor Exercise, and silver medals in Individual All-Around and Balance Beam. This 4-gold, 2-silver performance made her the most bemedaled student-athlete from Pasig City participating in . Tchelzy is only just getting started. This is her first Palarong Pambansa. We look forward to seeing more of her in the future.

SDO Pasig City Finishes as 3rd Best Performing Schools Division in Palarong Pambansa 2026

Sporting excellence was demonstrated by the student-athletes of Pasig City at the Palarong Pambansa 2026, collecting an impressive 22 gold, 18 silver, and 9 bronze medals. The city’s medal haul significantly contributed to Team NCR’s 19th consecutive overall championship in the regular sports category, where the region finished with a dominant 91-71-71 medal tally.

Among more than 220 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) nationwide, SDO Pasig City emerged as the 3rd Best Performing Schools Division, further cementing its reputation as one of the country’s premier grassroots sports programs.

Pasig City's student-athletes delivered podium finishes in the following sports:
🏅 Gymnastics (MAG, WAG, Aerobic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics)
🏅 Chess
🏅 Swimming
🏅 Taekwondo
🏅 Wrestling
🏅 Basketball 5v5
🏅 Archery
🏅 Table Tennis
🏅 Badminton
🏅 Weightlifting

Meanwhile, the city's representatives in Sepak Takraw, Softball, Wushu, Tennis, Athletics and Pencak Silat also posted commendable performances and proudly represented Pasig throughout their respective campaigns.

This achievement marks the third consecutive year that SDO Pasig City has remained among the Top 5 Best Performing Schools Divisions in the country since the Department of Education began officially tracking division-level medal tallies in 2024. Notably, Pasig City is one of only three divisions nationwide—alongside Manila and Rizal Province—to consistently place within the Top 5 during this period.

For Palarong Pambansa 2026, Pasig City fielded a delegation of 95 student-athletes competing in 16 sports, including major team events such as Elementary Boys Basketball, Secondary Softball, and Secondary Boys and Girls Sepak Takraw, as well as numerous individual sporting disciplines.

Higit pa sa mga medalya at ranggo, ang tagumpay na ito ay sumasalamin sa magandang pag-uugali, disiplina, katatagan, at kahusayan ng mga student-athlete ng Pasig City. Ang kanilang dedikasyon sa pagsasanay at sa laro ay patuloy na nagbibigay ng inspirasyon at karangalan sa buong lungsod, at nagsisilbing huwaran ng kung ano ang maaaring makamit ng kabataan sa pamamagitan ng sipag, tiyaga, at determinasyon.

Mababait, mahuhusay, at tunay na kahanga-hanga ang ating mga student-athletes. Maraming salamat sa karangalang inyong dinala sa Pasig City. Ipinagmamalaki namin kayo—ngayon at palagi. 💙💛🏆

Today, these young athletes etched their names into history and made an entire community proud.

For the first time ever, Pasig City was represented in the Palarong Pambansa Grade School Boys Basketball competition.
For the first time ever, the NJHS Grade School Boys Basketball Team competed on the Palarong Pambansa stage.

For a team experiencing the Palaro for the very first time, you played with the composure of veterans, the determination of champions, and the heart of true Saints. Every game, every hustle, and every moment on the court reflected your hard work, courage, and love for the game.

You carried the hopes of Pasig City and the NCR with pride, and in doing so, inspired everyone who cheered for you along the way.

By these alone, you have already achieved something remarkable—you made history.

Your NJHS family could not be prouder.
