On 4 September 2026, H.E. Dato Ambassador Fenny Nuli presented her credentials as Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO) to H.E. Dr. Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the CTBTO.

The occasion marks another important milestone in Malaysia’s longstanding engagement with the CTBTO and underscores Malaysia’s steadfast support for the objectives and vital work of the Organisation.

Malaysia remains firmly committed to multilateralism and to the early entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, and looks forward to working closely with the Executive Secretary and the Provisional Technical Secretariat in advancing the objectives of the Treaty and contributing to international peace and security.

On 2 September 2026, H.E. Dato Fenny Nuli, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Austria, presented her credentials as Malaysia’s Resident Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to H.E. Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the IAEA.

The presentation of credentials marks an important milestone in Malaysia’s continued engagement with the IAEA and reaffirms the longstanding partnership between Malaysia and the Agency.

Malaysia looks forward to further strengthening its cooperation with the IAEA, particularly in harnessing the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology for sustainable development, while continuing to advance nuclear safety, security and safeguards.

The occasion also underscores Malaysia’s continued commitment to constructive multilateral engagement and to supporting the IAEA’s important role in promoting the safe, secure and peaceful uses of nuclear technology worldwide.

ASEAN Day — but to a different rhythm. Here in Vienna, where diplomacy usually unfolds around negotiating tables, the ASEAN Vienna Committee (AVC) decided to take the celebration onto the padel court.

On 28 August 2026, Team Malaysia in Vienna organised the AVC Friendly Padel Match as part of Malaysia’s Chairmanship of the AVC, bringing together 16 teams from ASEAN Missions, the United Nations (UN) and other Vienna-based International Organisations.

With families cheering from the sidelines, including our youngest supporter, not even a year old, the evening was filled with friendly rivalry, laughter and, of course, a generous dose of ASEAN spirit.

There were winners on the scoreboard, of course — congratulations! 🏆 But the real highlight was the camaraderie on and off the court: strengthening friendships with our UN and international partners while sharing a little of the warmth and togetherness that define the ASEAN spirit.

After all, this is Vienna. We may spend our days negotiating resolutions, but every now and then, it is good to change the tempo, pick up a racket and let ASEAN diplomacy find a different rhythm.

On 22 August 2026, H.E. Dato Fenny Nuli, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Austria, and Team Malaysia in Vienna attended Pesta Rakyat, hosted by H.E. Dr. iur. Damos Dumoli Agusman, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Austria, and his wife, Mdm. Ermita Agusman, in commemoration of the 81ˢᵗ Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

The occasion provided an opportunity to engage with fellow Heads of Mission, including the Ambassadors of Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Japan and the Lao PDR, as well as the Chargé d’Affaires of Myanmar, and to interact with members of the local community, reflecting the warm friendship and camaraderie among the diplomatic community in Vienna.

The Embassy of Malaysia extends its congratulations to Ambassador Damos and his team on the successful convening of Pesta Rakyat, and its sincere appreciation for their warm hospitality.

H.E. Dato Fenny Nuli, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Austria, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador María Eugenia Echeverría Herrera, Ambassador of Peru to Austria, on 20 August 2026, accompanied by First Secretary, Mr. Umaabati Chandrasekaram.

The meeting was a warm reunion, recalling their earlier encounters in Lima when Ambassador Echeverría was serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and Dato Fenny as Malaysia’s Ambassador to Peru.

Amid fond recollections, they exchanged views on developments in Peru and the multilateral agenda in Vienna, while looking forward to continued close engagement.

From Lima to Vienna — a friendship renewed and a new chapter begun.

H.E. Dato Fenny Nuli, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Austria, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Ham Sang Wook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Austria, on 19 August 2026. Dato Fenny was accompanied by First Secretary, Mr. Umaabati Chandrasekaram.

The two Ambassadors reaffirmed the longstanding and friendly relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Korea and exchanged views on opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in multilateral fora, particularly within the Vienna-based International Organisations.

Their discussion also touched on their respective national energy priorities, including Malaysia’s exploration of the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and the Republic of Korea’s extensive experience and expertise in the nuclear energy sector.

The Ambassadors also exchanged views on regional and international developments and looked forward to continued close engagement and cooperation in Vienna.

H.E. Dato Fenny Nuli, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Austria, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Vu Le Thai Hoang, Ambassador of Viet Nam to Austria, on 18 August 2026. Dato Fenny was accompanied by First Secretary, Mr. Umaabati Chandrasekaram.

Both Ambassadors discussed ways to enhance ASEAN’s collective visibility and engagement in Austria, including through closer cooperation among ASEAN Missions and greater outreach with Austrian partners. They also exchanged views on matters of common interest within the Vienna-based International Organisations and looked forward to working closely in advancing ASEAN’s shared interests and presence in Vienna.

H.E. Dato Fenny Nuli, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Austria, paid an introductory visit to H.E. Ambassador Ian Biggs, Ambassador of Australia to Austria, on 17 August 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on matters of mutual interest, including developments and priorities within the Vienna-based International Organisations. Ambassador Biggs also shared valuable insights from Australia’s experience and engagement in the IAEA Board of Governors, including perspectives on key issues before the Board.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement and close cooperation between Malaysia and Australia.

The call was also attended by Mr. Mohd Ridzwan Shahabudin, Counsellor of the Embassy of Malaysia.

H.E. Dato Fenny Nuli, Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Austria, paid an introductory call on H.E. Ambassador Li Song, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Vienna, on 13 August 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the upcoming 70ᵗʰ IAEA General Conference and other multilateral matters of mutual interest.

The meeting also underscored the longstanding friendship and close ties between Malaysia and China, and the importance both countries attach to continued dialogue and cooperation, bilaterally and within the multilateral framework in Vienna.

Dato Fenny was accompanied by Mr. Mohd Ridzwan Shahabudin, Counsellor of the Embassy of Malaysia in Vienna.
