It was a privilege to participate in the EU Migration Talks in Vienna, sharing Kenya’s perspective on the future of the EU-Africa Partnership and the role of labour mobility in advancing our shared prosperity.

One message resonated throughout the discussion:

Migration should not be viewed solely as a challenge to manage. It should also be recognised as an opportunity to unlock human potential, strengthen economies and deepen partnerships.

With Africa’s youthful population and Europe’s ageing workforce, our demographic realities are complementary. This is why Kenya has embraced structured labour mobility partnerships, including our Labour Migration and Mobility Partnership with Germany and our recently signed Memorandum of Understanding on Labour Mobility with Austria and recently with Italy.

These initiatives demonstrate that when migration is safe, orderly and regular, it delivers mutual benefits for countries of origin, destination countries and migrants alike.

One analogy I shared during the discussion generated quite a smile in the room - an analogy I happily borrow from Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu, whose vivid storytelling continues to inspire conversations on labour mobility.

I described the Kenya - Germany partnership as a marriage where we dated first and then got married.

The Kenya - Austria partnership, I said, is a marriage where we got married first and are now looking forward to dating.

Behind the humour lies an important point: agreements are only the beginning. Their true value lies in the relationships, trust and implementation that follow.

My sincere appreciation to the organisers, fellow panellists and participants for a rich and thought-provoking exchange.

Because the story of Africa and Europe should not be written as one continent helping another - it should be written as two neighbouring continents shaping their shared future together.

Honored to attend the Africa Day celebrations hosted by Slovakia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Juraj Blanár — a remarkable occasion celebrating the strong and growing ties between Africa and Slovakia.

I was particularly pleased to discuss his upcoming official visit to Nairobi on 8th June, accompanied by a delegation of 35 Slovak businessmen. This visit presents an important opportunity to deepen trade, investment, innovation, and strategic cooperation between Slovakia and Kenya.

As Africa continues to emerge as a key global economic partner, collaborations grounded in mutual respect, shared prosperity, and sustainable development will define the future we build together.

There is something deeply captivating about these photos.

Not because of the protocol.
Not because of the titles.
But because of the quiet irony life sometimes writes so effortlessly.

A Kenyan presenting credentials.
Another Kenyan receiving them.
On the global stage.

And suddenly diplomacy becomes personal.

Because beyond the UN emblem and formalities lies a story many Kenyans understand too well — of mentorship, proximity to greatness, seasons of learning, and eventually, arrival.

One generation opening doors.
Another walking through them.

You cannot look at this moment without appreciating the beauty of continuity. That the people who once inspired, guided, challenged, or mentored us may one day stand across from us as peers in purpose.

That is the parody of life:-

The rooms you once entered seeking wisdom become the same rooms where your own credentials are finally acknowledged.

Director General/Executive Secretary, Amb. Monica Juma represents a generation of Kenyan leadership that carried competence with quiet authority.

Amb. Edwin Afande represents the continuation of that legacy - proof that excellence reproduces itself when mentorship is intentional.

And perhaps that is the most powerful thing about this moment, Kenya meeting itself at the highest table of global service.

Not by accident.
But by preparation, persistence, and legacy.

A truly beautiful Kenyan moment.

I am Deeply honoured to witness this moment!

It was a pleasure to attend the reception hosted by the Mayor and Governor of Vienna, Dr. Michael Ludwig, alongside fellow ambassadors and members of the diplomatic community, on the occasion of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 Semi-Final.

The evening was a powerful reminder of how music and culture continue to unite people across borders, fostering dialogue, understanding, and shared experiences among nations.

Vienna once again demonstrated how a city can successfully harness its rich cultural heritage and global artistic appeal to bring people together, strengthen international connections, and showcase the enduring value of cultural diplomacy.

My sincere appreciation to the City of Vienna for the warm hospitality and for creating such a memorable celebration of culture, diversity, and international friendship.

Long Post Alert:- The Swarovski Museum

Today’s visit to Swarovski Kristallwelten Museum was more than just a visual treat, it was a masterclass in vision, craftsmanship, and brand building. ✨

Founded by Daniel Swarovski in 1895, the company began with a simple but powerful idea: make precision-cut crystals accessible while maintaining exceptional quality.

Walking through the exhibits, it’s clear that innovation has always been at the heart of the brand, from pioneering cutting technology to blending art, fashion, and storytelling.

A few lessons that stood out:

• Innovation drives longevity – staying relevant for over a century requires constant reinvention

• Craftsmanship matters – precision and quality are non-negotiable foundations

• Brand experience is everything – Swarovski doesn’t just sell products; it creates immersive worlds

• People & purpose – the emphasis on well-being and teamwork traces back to the founder’s values

From stunning installations to the iconic crystal wings moment, every detail reflects a legacy built on creativity and discipline.

Leaving us inspired by how a single idea, executed consistently well, can scale into a global symbol of elegance and innovation.
