This week I spoke to ABC Drive with Prue Bentley, along with Corangamite Shire Council Mayor Kate Makin, about our recent devastating bushfires. We both argued strongly for less government red tape during recovery, especially around immediate financial relief for affected residents. I will continue to advocate as strongly as possible for our community as we continue to provide full Council support at this difficult time.

I recently attended the Beaufort Blue Light Moto Cross event. Even though the weather was ordinary it didn’t deter the riders and their parents from attending. There were about 75 junior riders registered to ride and all their parents, grandparents etc attending to watch them ride.

It was a real hive of activity. I think it’s great that the kids are outdoors doing what they love doing rather than watching a square screen and doing it all in a safe and controlled environment.

Thanks to the committee and band of volunteers and all the mums and dads that take the time to make this happen, it’s a fantastic facility and with great events.

It was a delicious start to the morning at the Beaufort Primary School’s Special Person’s Breakfast! The Parent & Friend’s Committee do an amazing job to fundraise to support so many wonderful opportunities for the students and they too are supported by amazing groups in the community - here I am pictured with the amazing Lynne and Luke from the Beaufort Community Bendigo Bank Board! Had a cute little sidekick with me at the Beaufort Secondary College School Council meeting this week! What an amazing school we have right here providing incredible learning opportunities for our teenagers! The staff here work tirelessly to provide an education that develops the whole person and we see that in our amazing graduates! On that note too congratulations to all those in our community completing their Year 12 studies and we are thinking of you as you are undertaking your exams!

Had the best night at a different type of Art Show! The Elizabeth Watkin Kindergarten at Beaufort out on an amazing display of beautiful artwork - the support for our younger residents to grow and flourish is second to none in our shire and I thank all our amazing early years educators who work day in and out with such care! What an incredible weekend of art, culture and fun Avoca experienced this weekend for the Barking Owl Festival! I’ve posted here some pictures of the opening of the Art Show on Friday evening! What an incredible display of stunning art from young to older artists it truly was a honour to be amongst such great work! Congratulations to all the artists and winners of the awards - a special mention to the Primary School displays - amazing talent and innovation on the Endangered species of the Pyrenees theme!
