Clever little bird.
This tiny bird builds a nest with a decoy door.
Penduline t**s are known for their hanging, pouch-like nests, woven from soft plant fibres, spider webs, wool, and other fine materials. In the African genus Anthoscopus, the nest can include a false entrance that leads only to an empty chamber, while the real nesting chamber is hidden behind a flap.
When a snake or other predator investigates the obvious opening, it finds nothing inside. The bird, meanwhile, slips through the concealed entrance and can close it behind itself.
Nature’s version of a hidden room — built by a bird.
