Bilgola's first Lifesaving Open Day is done and what a day it was.

Simultaneous IRB and jet ski rescues, live patient board and tube rescues, manikin recoveries beyond the break, a full spinal scenario from the shallows to the sand, CPR training, first aid showcases and an incredible crew giving everything they had.

🌊We're just getting started. This was our first. It won't be our last.

☀️ The weather gods have delivered and the timing couldn't be better!

After a week of non-stop rain, SUNDAY is shaping up to be the first proper sunny day in what feels like forever. And we're spending it at Bilgola Beach.

This week is National Volunteer Week 🙌 and we couldn't let it pass without saying something to the people who make Bilgola what it is.

To every member who has shown up, suited up, and stood on this beach to keep our community safe... thank you!

You don't do it for the recognition. You do it because this beach, and the people on it, matter to you. That means everything. ❤️

Every patrol, every preventative action, every rescue...
it adds up to something bigger than any of us individually.
That's what this club is built on.

& that’s a wrap! ✅

The 25/26 Patrol Season has finished - a HUGE thank you to each & every Billy patroller 🙌🙏

These absolute legends, that make up ten volunteer patrol teams, don their yellow & red uniforms every 2-3 weeks to keep our incredible stretch of coastline safe 🌊

27 September 2025 through to 27 April 2026 - every weekend. That’s 62 days plus 8 Public Holidays 😲Around 560 hours - holy smokes Batman! 💪

Then there’s all the extra stuff - annual proficiencies on the beach & in the classroom (I’m looking at you changes in CPR!), stepping in when patrols are short, training for additional awards - IRB crew & driver, Advanced Resus Techniques, First Aid, Patrol Captain Silver Medallion & more, Nippers Water Safety, Billy Swim, training & competing in Surfboat carnivals or weekly swim meet-ups with the Billy Rays & MORE! 😮‍💨

A huge round of applause for you all - your commitment, contribution & service to your community is MAGNIFICENT! 👏👏
