Quick heads up for East Branxton residents on pump-to-sewer systems.

These systems depend on three key things working properly:
• the pump
• the float switches
• the tank condition and capacity

Over time pumps wear out, floats can stick and fail, and tanks can build up sludge and scum layers which reduce the working capacity of the tank. When this happens the system may start short-cycling, alarms can go off, or in some cases sewage can back up.

Regular checks and keeping sludge and scum levels under control with periodic pump-outs helps the whole system run properly and can prevent expensive pump replacements.

If you’re on pump-to-sewer it’s worth keeping this maintenance in mind to avoid problems down the track.
Something your Plumber or Electrician can check over for piece of mind.

Bathroom fitoff( end result)
This old cottage also required complete change out of under floor drainage and water lines hot and cold, relocation of hot water system and stormwater pit installs.

Rain to mains pump change out/Modification.

On this occasion the rain water tank suppies water to toilets and washing machine. Town mains is also connected to automatically switch over when we have dry periods and an empty tank. We generally use an aquasaver rainpro diverter for the autochange over. Find this style valve to be reliable and fit for purpose.

150 and 100 fill point for rainwater tank, low level flush, water filtration and a couple poly pits for the surface drainage.

Will see how the progress goes with this batch.
Using a manutec granular fertilser which is mixed in a garbage bin once a week. (50 litres volume of water)

The bunnings submersible pump positioned in the plastic garbage bin with the float upright at all times.
Pump control is plugged into a wifi timer switch. Being a return flow system, the wifi timer is programmed to switch on every hour for 25 min between 7am and 6pm.

Got this little set up ready to kick off again as we're approaching spring for the 2025 season.
The pots are made from pvc, as throughout the year any left over material from job fronts can be used in a way of re-use. Sustainable plumbing right? (Very handy for the garden) Was able to use deks deobond epoxy to join the 100mm pipe to 150mm dust cap with 150mm pipe to create the pot. Cut aluminum gutter gaurd to shape and insert into 150mm to retain the clay balls which are used as media. Ive found over the past the more volume you have in media the better the chance for healthy growth and aeration for plant roots. Once we plant the seedlings I will post again the progress.
