What do we do when we’re not responding to a request for assistance? We train! Congratulations to our members who recently completed the Undertake Storm and Water Damage Operations course! As Storm Damage Operators they are now prepared to assist you with sandbagging and temporary repairs to your homes from storm events. We hope you’ll never need us, but just in case, we’ll keep training and practicing our skills.

Congratulations to Jim Marsden for being the Bribie Island Group Member of the Year!
Jim is a dedicated volunteer and skilled storm damage, chainsaw and Ground Support Roof operator. Over the last year, Jim has contributed to building our capability through the mentoring of new Heights roof operators in the ground support elements of the role. With the increase in our volunteer numbers, the sharing of skills and knowledge by our more experienced members is vital to build their capability rapidly and Jim has done so in a positive and supportive way. He was also a crew member on just anout every roof tarping job we did. Thanks for all you do, Jim!

SES Moreton Bay Unit is powered by volunteers willing to help others when needed. Our Bribie Island SES Group has 32 of these special people ♥️ Happy National Volunteers Week and SES Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day)!

08/05/2026

🟧 Wear Orange Wednesday is coming 🧡

On Wednesday 20 May, we’re asking communities, workplaces, and organisations to come together and show their support for SES volunteers and all community-based volunteers.

👉 Wear orange
👉 Host a morning tea
👉 Say thank you

Our volunteers give their time to support communities during storms, floods and emergencies—often when it matters most.

A simple morning tea can go a long way in recognising their dedication and commitment.

Tag your workplace, team or organisation and let us know how you’re getting involved.

There are times we’re in serious response mode and times we have the opportunity to strike a pose. Here’s a few of our members showing us how much they love volunteering in the SES. Not only have they learnt new skills to help other communities members, they’re having fun doing it…wet or dry!
