Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), an important opportunity to raise awareness of the mistreatment of older people in our communities and to reinforce our commitment to promoting the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of older Australians.

Each year our Seniors Legal and Support Service (SLASS) team commits to an entire month of commemoration with activities spanning across Greater Brisbane, working hard to help shine a light on elder abuse and the support services available to those who may be experiencing it.

Our team has been and will continue to be out and about in the community for the entire month of June, co-hosting community events, activities and providing legal education sessions alongside our sector partners and allies.

WEAAD reminds us that everyone has a role to play in recognising, preventing, and responding to elder abuse.
