Times have changed, but people have been a part of powering Queensland's future at for a long time! Let's take a little look back. 👀

🕥🏕️ Then 1963:

When Borumba Dam was built, a dedicated camp was created in the forest to support a large workforce constructing an essential water asset for Queensland. With no nearby towns or services, the dam camp became a temporary community, playing a vital role in delivering critical infrastructure for the region.

🕝🏕️ Now 2026:

More than 60 years on, Queensland Hydro is taking the next step. Granite Camp has been purpose‑built to support early works for our Borumba Project, providing modern, temporary accommodation for our workforce while minimising impacts on local housing and communities.

We joined Bruce and the crew from Lake Borumba Fish Stocking Assn to release more than 43,000+ fingerlings into the lake. 🚤 🌧️

These fingerlings are a mix of bass, golden and silver perch, used to replenish recreational fishing stock. 🐟

Queensland Hydro is proud to sponsor this release as part of our Community Grants Program which supports initiatives that deliver benefits for the local communities within our Project area.

How will we support our workforce during 's exploratory works phase? 👷

In October 2025, Queensland Hydro completed the temporary accommodation ‘Granite Camp’ in the proposed upper reservoir area. 🏕️

The camp will provide on-site accommodation for our workforce, avoiding pressure on local housing, with numbers expected to peak at around 200 personnel at the start of 2027.

Minor road works across Bella Creek, Yielo and Borgan roads are underway to allow safe access to our Project site. 🛣️

Works are also happening within our site, with the construction of new gravel tracks. You may notice an increase in light and heavy vehicle movements along public roads as we progress exploratory works through 2026. 🚚

Our team will seek to minimise impacts to the community during this time.
