Exploratory works vs EIS – What’s what? 🤔​

Exploratory works help us learn more about the site, including geology, ground conditions and environmental characteristics.​

The EIS is a separate process that assesses the potential impacts of the project's main works.​

Together, these studies help build a clearer picture of the proposed Project and support informed decision-making as planning progresses.​

Our approvals team recently spent time on site at with our Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Delivery Partner, EMM, touring the site ahead of important environmental assessment work. 👷​

DYK: An EIS is Queensland's most comprehensive environmental assessment process. 🔍

It examines a project's potential environmental, social and economic impacts, while identifying measures to avoid, reduce or manage those impacts. 🌱​

It's a key step in helping government assess project details and inform future decisions.​

Recently we paid a visit to Mary Valley State College in Imbil and their awesome Year 4 students, who are currently learning all about water and its role within our environment. 💧🌏​

Matt who is our Lead Hydrologist here at Queensland Hydro was the perfect person for the job to present to the class and took students through the ins and outs of pumped hydro, water and how science and data help lead the way in its understanding and management. 🔍​

Matt received a warm welcome from the students, who kept him on his toes with plenty of thoughtful questions. From water quality and the human body to careers in hydrology, their curiosity made for an engaging and rewarding day!
