I am delighted to announce that a highly regarded colleague from the USA is offering positions on his International Firefighter Life Saving Strategies hands course on the weekends between the September International CFBTI courses Aus-Rescue is running in Croatia this year.
Armando Rivas, has over two decades of extensive experience in emergency medicine, prehospital care, and fire suppression. His journey began in Caracas, Venezuela, where he honed his skills as a Nurse, Paramedic, and specialist in Technical Rescue and Disaster Relief for the Venezuelan Red Cross.
Armando embarked on a new chapter in the United States, specifically in Florida, where I currently serve as a firefighter paramedic and a Special Operator Rescuer. His role extends to being an EMS/Fire Instructor, a Special Operations Rescue Instructor.
Additionally, he is the founder and lead instructor of Fire Rescue Group and International Firefighter Training, a consulting company dedicated to teaching IFLS (International Firefighter Life Saving Strategies). This unique curriculum blends firefighter survival techniques with rapid intervention team operations training.
Apart from his professional commitments, he hosts a bilingual international podcast, Bomberos On Fire. This podcast focuses on mental health issues for first responders, providing support and guidance to all those in need.
This 16 hour course is based on the best of the US RIT concepts and has been given an international perspective to the training and implementation of this essential knowledge.

Expressions of Interest to participate in the next round of Internationally recognised CFBT Instructor Courses are now open to all interested candidates. Please reference the EOI form below to submit your interest.

We are planning 3 International CFBTI courses for September/October 2024 in Croatia. The estimated cost is around 2000 Euros for each 5 day course, depending on the number of participants.

Accommodation is reasonable at that time of year, and I estimate about 80

E/night with 1/2 board. Discounts may be possible for those interested in more than 1 course, and for group bookings. From the feedback received from the first announcement, I am now proposing the amended dates.

If you submitted your EOI of the basis of the offer made to CFBT International's qualified instructor first offer, please re-submit you EOI for the amended dates. The presentation language will be English. We will also have a highly experienced international assistant instructor providing Spanish translation. Our online eLearning theory platform will provide CC translations for the theory components and the mandated theory assessments required by the international certifying body (The Institution of Fire Engineers).

30 years in the development. We need to fill the gaps in the education of firefighters. I have linked up with 2 international companies that share the vision of giving every firefighter in the world access to the essentials of compartment fire behaviour. This is critical to the skill of reading the fire, and the development of the safest and most effective strategies and tactics.

I have a few announcements that relate to the technical manuals written by Ben Walker and myself. Fire Dynamics for Firefighters v2 (ISBN 9780645142013), Reading the Fire v 2 (ISBN 9780645142051), and the Korean Version of Fire Dynamics for Firefighters v2 (9780645142037), are all now available in eBook formats.
Furthermore, my new business partners in the development of the comprehensive eLearning program, “Essentials of Compartment Fire Behaviour, Training tactics and Ventilation”, have informed me that our colleagues in Trinidad (2000 firefighters), Kenya (1500 firefighters) and 5000 firefighters from Guatemala, are all about to embark on a state of the art eLearning adventure into knowledge that will allow then the maximum potential to make the safest and most efficient tactical decisions on the modern fireground. Many thanks to David Ware, Dean Hawkins and Elanora Hawkins, for believing in this program and for making this a reality.
