A little history on White Rock
White Rock, a residential suburb on the outskirts of Cairns, is 10 km south of the city centre. It is on the Bruce Highway and the North Coast railway line, and is immediately north of Edmonton. It was named after White Rock Peak (574 m) in the Freshwater Creek State Forest, 2.5 km to the west of the Bruce Highway. Several watercourses run down from White Rock Peak,
ending in wetlands on the east of the suburb. The highway and the railway follow the high ground on the west of White Rock. In the late 1960s White Rock had scattered development along the east side of the railway line, and by the mid-1970s a small estate had developed in the north, next to the Cairns Golf Club and the White Rock Caravan Park. The estate filled up in the early 1980s. The new subdivisions occurred to the south, along the railway line. The southern campus of the Trinity Anglican School opened in 1983, and a State Primary School opened in 1988. A hidden gem.....
White Rock is a hidden gem. Located only 8 minutes drive to town, this area will become a highly sought after real estate in years to come. Already, this area has so much to offer, including; local shopping centres in two locations on Progress Road, one has the cheapest petrol in town and a major shopping center; Mount Sheridan Shopping Plaza, across the highway on Foster Road. We have Trinity Links Golf Course, Bupa Aged Care, Oaks Retirement Village, Trinity Links Holiday Resort, 2 Plant Nurseries – White Rock Nursery & Melsonrock Nursery, White Rock Caravan Park, 2 Child Care Centres; Sheridan Gardens & Sheridan Meadows, 2 churches Trinity Baptist Church & Citywide Christian Fellowship Church, 2 Schools; Trinity Anglican School and White Rock State Primary School, along with some great parks with everything from tennis courts to mini basketball courts. White Rock has grown over the years as this historical Census shows the expanding populations:

This page is about empowering the community members to take ownership, work together and help make our suburb a peaceful, safe and fun place to live – to improve ‘Pride Of Place’. . We would like for everyone young and old alike to be apart of making suggestions and or putting ideas to the powers that be so that we can get infrastructure, parks, roadways, footpaths etc. to a high standard that the other suburbs now enjoy in Cairns. Whit Rock has been neglected over the years, with a lot of our infrastructure falling into disrepair. So I have, with the knowledge and support of our new Councillor; Cr Cathy Zeiger, started this page to engage our White Rock community to get our suburb back on track so that it is once again a beautiful, safe and caring community. Post and comment on issues that need attention in and around our community. Post photos of infrastructure that you think needs fixing or updating. Please be respectful of others as we will have younger people (kids) on this page hence no swearing etc. this is a community page so every one is encouraged to be apart of building up our community into a place we all are proud of.
