The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) has made findings against former Western Sydney accountant Peter Ristevski for providing and advertising tax agent services while unregistered, in breach of the Tax Agent Services Act 2009. The investigation identified serious misconduct, including representing clients through another entity, redirecting tax refunds without authority, supporting arrangements to avoid tax obligations, and promoting services via social media while unregistered. Unregistered preparers pose significant risks to consumers and the integrity of the tax system. The TPB encourages taxpayers to check the TPB Register and confirm a tax practitioner’s registration before engaging their services. The TPB will continue to take action where unlawful conduct is identified to protect consumers and maintain confidence in the tax profession. Learn more: https://ow.ly/VHfI50Z619j

It’s National Reconciliation Week from 27 May to 3 June. This week provides an important opportunity for all of us to reflect on and learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in Australia. This year’s theme is ‘All In,’ a call for every Australian to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation, not just during this week, but every day. This theme reminds us that reconciliation is not a passive process, nor is it the responsibility of First Nations peoples alone. Real, meaningful progress happens when we actively engage, listen and learn together. For more information, visit Reconciliation Australia https://ow.ly/wuoL50Z4x83
