s during elections with many members campaigning in crucial marginal electorates in previous federal election victory. Former members include the Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd MP, Former Senator and candidate for Bean David Smith, and ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr MLA. On wednesday night, the ANU Labor Club headed to Parliament House for our first Meet the Members event of 2026!

It was great to hear from so many of our amazing Labor Ministers, MP’s and Senators and to get to chat to them about their personal experiences getting involved in the Labor party and to speak to them about why joining groups like Young Labor and the ANU Labor Club is vital for young people passionate about politics!

Our members also got to hear from Chris Hancock; the National President of Young Labor who spoke about the importance of young people getting involved in campaigns and fighting for issues important to them.

It wasn’t quite the BBQ we were hoping for (due to the weather) but we loved seeing everyone and getting to hear from Kristy McBain, Member for Eden-Monaro and Minister for Regional Development, Local Government & Territories and Minister for Emergency Management.

A huge thanks to Kristy for her time, and to all our wonderful club members for coming along!

🚨EVENT UPDATE🚨

2026 here we come!!

The ANU Labor Club stall will be at ANUSA Market day all day on Wednesday the 18th of February.

Afterwards we invite all new and returning members to join us for drinks now from 5:30pm and at new location PJ’s in the City as we catch up after the holiday break and welcome our newest members!!

Can’t wait to see you there!

We were honoured to hear the newly elected Member for Dickson, speak about EMILY’s List’s work supporting progressive Labor women to get elected.
