Purposeful - Intentional - Balanced. We’re proud to be a low-technology school.
In a world where screens and devices are becoming an increasingly big part of children’s lives, we’ve made a deliberate choice at Carina about what technology looks like in our classrooms.
We believe technology should be used purposefully and intentionally - when it genuinely enhances learning.
While many schools are introducing 1:1 iPads or BYOD programs from the early years, we are taking a different approach.
Our early years classrooms are focused on what children need most:
-Learning to read and write
-Developing strong handwriting skills
-Building oral language and communication
-Developing friendships and relationships
-Creating, imagining and playing
-Hands-on learning and problem solving
We have school devices that are used purposefully to add value to our learning. Students spend plenty of time reading, writing, talking, creating, playing, collaborating and learning with their classmates.
As our students move through the years, we gradually build their digital literacy and technology skills, ensuring they learn how to use technology safely, responsibly and effectively.
It’s a deliberate choice we’re making at Carina - less screens, more connection.
It’s about finding the right balance. And for many families, that’s exactly what they’re looking for.
If you’re considering where to send your child for Prep in 2027, come and see our classrooms for yourself.
