What a Wonderful World !
The Family Fun Day took place on Saturday, 1st October 2016 in Fagan Park, Galston. It lasted about 4 hours. The event went smoothly without too many hiccups. As our president, Bob, described, this was a test of our cooperation and ability to organize an event. We passed with flying colours because we spared no efforts to make a success of this event.
Without a doubt the advance preparation involved a lot of people and time. Anxiety about the weather, logistics, and public participation was all gone when the event was up and running. Once the public walked into the venue, they could have access to information about our association. As the name of our event suggested, it was an activity intended for the whole family. There was the readysteadygokids exercise and sport area for children to enjoy themselves. Photo booth was another attraction. Tai Chi 18 Form performed to draw the seniors’ attention to the importance of regular exercise. The Harmonic Band’s performance was another star attraction. The writer used one of the pieces of music that they played as the topic of this report. The Indian dance added the element of ethnic diversity in this event. The variety of food, with vegetarian dishes, could meet the need for a light lunch.
The chief blemish of this event lies in the choice of date, our event coincided with the two major Aussie sporting competitions. It was in the middle of a long holiday. An eye-catching banner promoting our event was needed at the main entrance of Fagan Park as the council held two other activities simultaneously in the main area of the park. It was a pity that we were unable to draw the crowd to our event.
There is of course room for improvements. Each member has put forward their own ideas. These would be examined during our review session. To thank each one of the enthusiastic members and volunteers would be time consuming. We will include a list of volunteers and sponsors. Our greatest appreciation goes toward them. Their support, help, sponsorship, and work caused happiness among participants, this in turn wiped out the sweat and fatigue among the volunteers.
