The public notification period for MCU26/0134 is open and will conclude on 22 September 2026.

The applicant seeks a Development Permit for Material Change of Use of Premises to Establish a Dwelling Unit.

The subject site is currently improved by a two storey building with a roof terrace.

The lower floor comprises a restaurant and the upper floor comprises a caretakers residence as approved in 2004.

The applicant seeks to change the use of the upper floor from a caretakers residence to a dwelling unit and add a roof above the
staircase to the roof terrace.

The height of the proposed roof would be 9.99m in height and would exceed the 8.5m height limit for the site stipulated by the Height of buildings and structures overlay code under the current planning scheme.

Therefore, the proposed development triggers an Impact Assessable application.

A big day of mobile offices in Picnic Point, Mount Coolum and Pacific Paradise.

Aside from the usual requests we get for things to be done (which is why we do these mobiles offices in the first place), it’s nice to meet people in person who we’ve been able to help with an issue in the past.

Robyn came down to our mobile office in Mount Coolum to pass on some positive feedback about a few projects we had completed locally, which I really appreciated.

👷‍♀️Road reseal - Tamarindus St, Marcoola 📣

Council has contracted Allens Asphalt Pty Ltd to undertake the resurfacing of a section of this street.

These works will be undertaken at night and parking will not be available between 6pm and 6am

The window when the works will occur is between 6 September and 18 September 2026. It’s expected the resealing will be completed in one overnight shift but the exact date within this window is weather dependent. Line marking will be done separately.

Road reconstruction will include profiling and asphalt works, which entails the use of heavy plant and machinery and considerable truck movement. Some noise from machinery and disruption to usual traffic flow is likely to be experienced.

Profiling includes the use of a milling machine, bobcats, jack hammering and trucks to remove deteriorated or aged pavement.

Asphalt works are completed by a paving machine placing asphalt which is then followed by a roller machine.

Council apologises for any inconvenience in advance.

👋 September Mobile Offices 📣

Next Tuesday 1 September 2026 to celebrate the first day of spring, Nat (Division 8 Councillor Liaison Officer) and I will be out for our regular mobile offices at the following times and locations:

🧺 8:30am to 9:30am - Picnic Point Esplanade, Maroochydore

⛰️ 10:00am to 11:00am - Mount Coolum IGA

🛒 3:00pm to 5:00pm - Coles Pacific Paradise

We look forward to seeing you. If you stop in early enough, you can grab a compost caddy too.

If you live in Coolum or Yaroomba, you’ll know the intersection at Centenary Heights Road, Yarrock Street and Jenyor Street is a dangerous one.

That’s why council has recently applied for Federal Blackspot funding to help make improvements to this intersection.

We won’t know the outcome of the application until next year, but let’s hope we get a favourable outcome for the application so we can make this intersection safer in the future.
