Huge privilege to be part of the team of stonemasons, rangers and Traditional Owners restoring the convict-built stone beacon on Raine Island on the Outer Barrier Reef for the Queensland Government.
Big thanks to the boat crew for getting everyone there and back safely, and for looking after us during the project. In between some long shifts we got to see some incredible wildlife and also managed to miss some very cold weather in Sydney!
The same team will be going back for Phase Two of the work next month - can't wait!

The patching was cut out , replaced with stone and all pointed in with lime mortar. The windows openings were also fitted with new stone sills and reveals.

Here's some sandstone cladding we did to an amazing Sydney home - I love the subtle variations in colour, set off by the recessed joints, the blade wall running through from outside, and the way the columns emphasize the height inside.

Go on click you know you like it!!

I've decided to start putting my photos up on fb as my blogsite www.shirestonemasonry.com has a 2mb limit on the uploads - so I have to compress all the photos which is a pain.

More to come soon Cheers Ian
