💛 A note to our community during the fires 💛
Over the past week, our little store has become a bit of an unofficial hub — for locals, confused travellers, campers, and emergency services alike. We’ve had people seeking directions, safety, fuel, water, somewhere to rest, and somewhere to breathe.
First and foremost, thank you. The kindness, concern, and generosity we’ve seen from this community has been overwhelming in the best possible way.
We do need to share a few important updates so we can keep supporting those on the frontline as safely and effectively as possible:
🚒 Access is critical
Please do not park in front of the store entry or exit points. These need to remain clear at all times so emergency vehicles, fuel deliveries, and supply trucks can get in and out quickly.
📦 Donations – what we can and can’t accept
We are incredibly grateful for the offers of home-cooked food, clothing, and supplies. Unfortunately, we do not have the space, refrigeration, or resources to safely store, manage, or distribute these items. Our current capacity is fully committed to supporting volunteers, CFS, police, and emergency crews directly with water, fuel access, storage space, logistics and general welfare.
🤝 The best way to help right now
Rotary has opened a small account to support local farmers and the CFS crews on the front lines — helping them grab a coffee, a meal, or supplies in the very small windows of rest they get.
If you’d like to help, the most effective way is to pop into the store and add a few dollars to that account. Every bit goes straight to the people doing the hardest work right now.
🗑️ Rubbish and waste
Please do not dump rubbish out the front of the store. Our bins are already over capacity, and we’re also handling overflow from nearby emergency operations. We’re seeing a significant increase in waste from campers, travellers and locals— if you can, please hold onto your rubbish until proper facilities are available.
📞 Phone lines are very busy. If we miss your call, we will do our best to get back to you. However, please understand that we are a little busy atm, so please keep your patience when talking to staff.
✉️Aus Post Mail is being held at the store for now, as access to most roads is low, critical for emergency services and spontaneously closed at best. Keep in mind we are an Aus Post outlet, so other couriers are not allowed to deliver to us. Again, we kindly ask you to keep your patience as we try to sort the mail, and know the delivery centres have a backlog and are also being affected.
🙏 A final thank you
We know everyone wants to help, and that generosity means a lot — truly. By working together and following these requests, you’re helping us keep this space functioning as a safe, reliable point of support during an incredibly difficult time.
Please stay alert, stay safe, and look out for one another.
We’ll continue doing everything we can from our end.
💛
