Dural Traffic

Dural Traffic Poor road planning is causing traffic in the suburbs of Dural, Cherrybrook, Kenthurst, Glenhaven, Gle The problem has been looming for decades.

Traffic on Old Northern Road and Newline Road is beyond bearable. With many subdivisions and increased development in Dural, Galston, Glenorie it is clear that the NSW State Government does not have a plan for the area and are not listening to local concerns. The area has always voted Liberal but now finds itself entirely snubbed by the Government it voted in. Worse, the local member Ray Williams

is Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads and should be able to do something about the situation. Instead Ray is busy with other needs. The roads sit in electoral no-man's land defining the border of several state electorates. Of note, all of the members representing all of the related electorates are Liberal, yet there is no care for the fathers and mothers of the area who spend additional hours away from their families who need them simply because of bad planning. Even if money cannot be spent on addressing the issues, there should at least be a ratified plan with community support. There has not even been local government consultation with the state members. It boils down to laziness or a lack of care by the members that represent us, in particular Ray Williams.

Traffic and the impact of time spent with family is absolutely to any tradie, professional or even school child who needs to travel outside their home suburb within Upper Hills suburbs (Glenorie, Galston, Dural, Kenthurst). These suburbs are virtually land locked by the single draw-bridges of Old Northern and New Line Roads... what's worse is that even with the subdivisions already in play the NSW Government has no plan to address the situation. We will be left we no land set aside for alternative roads, no widening of the roads and basically the farm tracks that were used in 1943 with a bit of tar laid over them. Not really good enough for a population who pay the most in tolls and have voted for the Liberal party their entire lifetime.

The strength of Australia’s economy depends on how well our cities function - yet right now, it’s as if we’re driving with the handbrake on. Cities are crucial to productivity. When they work well, they…

It's easy to see why Old Northern and Newline Roads are ignored. They are in political no-man's land. The core of the voting public for each electorate do not reside in these fringes. However what is not realised by these members is that the combined population of voters is significant. Divided we fall, united we stand. Please share with your local, affected friends so we can start to get the message to our members. As correctly identified by the NSW Government, roads infrastructure is critical to the health of the state. However because of laziness or a lack of care the opportunity to plan for the future of this area could be squandered.... what are we going to do in the end... dig another tunnel.. to Glenorie? Help stop this madness now. We need to bring State Government, and Hills and Hornsby Councils together to address this problem that cannot be ignored.

As the NSW RFS would say, "Planning to plan is not a plan" and the NSW Government has no traffic mitigation plan for Dural.

As the NSW Elections gather pace please indicate to your local state member and especially Ray Williams that while we love what the NSW Govt is doing with infrastructure, New Line Rd and Old Northern Rd need attention and future planning. Otherwise we will have another case of Spit Road (Mosman) on our hands, except the difference being we all have at least another half hour or more of travel ahead once we make it through the traffic.

Dominic, we love the action on roads we are seeing from your government and we would your feedback on the Dural Traffic situation in the lead up to the election.

NSW Government and Mike Baird. We love some of the great initiatives and the commitment to infrastructure and of course the Norwest Rail Link but Dural, Glenorie, Galston, Kenthurst, Arcadia... the loyal voting heartland remain forgotten. There is no plan for transport in these areas in place. It doesn't necessarily require funds right now but it needs planning. Local Government and State Government need to plan together in consultation with the local community. It just requires commitment and time... then action.

Newline Road 1943. The district was covered in farms with a low population. Today, the same roads are used with no alternative flow. Not much has changed. Instead 1000's of motorists grind along the same roads laid out more than 60 years ago for a very different population. There is a total lack of planning and commitment by the NSW Government to these roads or alternative approaches. The roads are creaking with the traffic load.
