This week, we're highlighting our special learning spaces at Bonnyrigg Early Learning Centre! ✨

Designed to support children's emotional wellbeing, these spaces offer opportunities for children to self-regulate, practise mindfulness and develop positive coping strategies. Whether they need a quiet moment, time to reflect, or a space to recharge, these spots empower children to recognise and respond to their feelings in a safe and supportive environment. 🌱

We believe that social and emotional development is an important foundation for lifelong learning.

A Garden Full of Learning 🌿💫

At Fairfield Preschool, our beautiful native garden provides endless opportunities for children to connect with nature, explore sustainability, and develop a love for caring for the environment. From planting and nurturing vegetables to observing insects and seasonal changes, the garden is a rich outdoor learning space that encourages curiosity and discovery.

Children also enjoy harvesting fresh produce from the garden and using it in cooking experiences, where they learn about healthy eating, food origins, and teamwork. 🌱🥕🍅

📚⛵ Storytime fun at the library!

The children at Fairfield Preschool enjoyed reading 📖 Who Sank the Boat? 📖 and were completely captivated by the story.

They participated enthusiastically, shared their thoughts, asked questions, and had a wonderful time bringing the story to life! 💙

Experiences like these foster early language and literacy skills by building vocabulary, encouraging expressive language, strengthening active listening and comprehension, boosting confidence, and nurturing a lifelong love of books and learning. 📖✨

🌱 Growing Curious Minds: Exploring How Seeds Grow

The children at Marlborough Street Preschool's Investigator group explored "How Seeds Grow", discovering the life cycle of plants🌞💧

They enjoyed a bushwalk around our outdoor area, where they discovered rosemary 🌿 lemon 🍋 and succulents 🌵.

These hands-on experiences encouraged curiosity, strengthened the children's connection with nature 🍃, and fostered an appreciation for caring for our country.

The children at Bonnyrigg ELC enjoyed exploring a wonderful selection of books 📚, learning to handle them with care 🤲 and return them to their proper place. 🗂️

They also admired the illustrations and shared their thoughts with friends and educators. 📖💛

A beautiful day fostering a strong sense of community! 🌱✨

🗣️ Building Clear & Confident Voices! 📣

Our children at Fairfield Preschool enjoyed a wonderful visit from our speech therapist from Fairstart, who supported and extended their developing communication skills. 💬✨

Through fun and interactive activities, the children practised repeating words, listening carefully to how sounds are formed, and using their best clear, confident voices. 🌟

It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm, focus, and growing confidence as they explored speech and articulation together! 💙
