WA’s two new public holidays will kick in from 2028, with an extra public holiday for Easter Saturday and another extra public holiday in mid November for families to celebrate what makes WA so special.

The new schedule will ensure we have an even spread of holidays across the year and we better align with the rest of the country - making life easier for families and businesses.

✅ A brand-new “Show Day” holiday to be introduced on the first Monday of the Spring school holidays.
✅ Easter Saturday to also be recognised as a public holiday, bringing WA into line with the rest of the nation.
✅ Labour Day to be moved to the second Monday in March, to align with other states and territories.
✅ WA Day to move to the second Monday in November, giving everyone the chance to celebrate our State in warmer weather and giving people a long weekend before the pre-Christmas rush.
✅ The King’s Birthday public holiday to be moved to the second Monday in June to align with the rest of the nation.

🚕Regional taxi operators can now apply for grants to help boost accessible-on-demand transport services🚕

The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure administered grants provide financial support to operators to establish a WAV taxi service in a town without accessible on-demand transport and supports regional operators with an existing WAV taxi service to meet demand or ensure continuity of service.

Grant applications will be accepted from Thursday, 4 September and close Thursday, 2 October 2025.

Applicants must reside in the regional area where their proposed service will operate and must hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Practical support that keeps harvest moving. Good to see investment in Katanning that expands servicing and parts access across the Great Southern. 🌾

This million-dollar header is one of the reasons why our Cook WA Labor Government is supporting great regional businesses like Total Ag Centre, serving the Great Southern.

Helping our farmers stay the most productive in the world as they look forward to another huge harvest is behind this latest RED grant for this family owned business in Katanning.

Damian and Kahlia are working hard to build their new business premises, and our government’s help means they can move forward years ahead of expected to build their new HQ to service and sell a range of agricultural harvesting and other equipment.
