In honour of National Reconciliation Week, McAuley House Footscray residents visited the NGV’s New Future exhibition as part of our Skills for Life program.
Engaging with powerful artwork by First Nations artists, the women reflected on the meaning of reconciliation and what it looks like in practice to listen to and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices.
For many women, pathways into homelessness are shaped by structural barriers that can lead to isolation from their communities. Creating opportunities to come together like this can help women to rebuild connection and a sense of belonging, which is critical to healing and recovery.
