GUMDALE READS // What better way to finish our Gumdale Reads celebrations than with some of the books that have been part of our reading journey this term.

Mrs Bruce shared her favourite childhood classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Our Preps also showcased some of the books they enjoyed during their English units, including books shortlisted by the Children's Book Council of Australia.

We hope everyone enjoyed our Book Week celebrations and all the opportunities to share a love of reading across the school.

With the long weekend ahead, we hope you find plenty of time to curl up with one of your favourite books and enjoy a good read!

GREEN SCREEN MEETS BOOK WEEK // Year 3 have been practising their green screen skills in English this term. Today, they combined their Book Week costumes with matching backgrounds.

It was fantastic to see their creativity come to life as they stepped into the world of their favourite characters.

BOOK FAIR BONUS HOURS // Looking for a great book to inspire your young reader? Our Book Fair Pop-Up Bookshop will now be open tomorrow morning from 8:00am to 9:00am near the Library, making it even easier to browse before school!

WEEK 8 ASSEMBLIES // Congratulations to all of our GROW Well Award recipients who were recognised at our Week 8 assembly. It is wonderful to see so many students demonstrating our school values and making positive choices each day.

Our Gumtree Senior Choir also took to the stage with a performance of Revolting Children from Matilda. They did a fantastic job, with the evil Miss Trunchbull even making an appearance.

Congratulations to our GOTCHA winners who were recognised for their positive choices and contributions around the school.

A special congratulations to Mysha, who won a gift voucher to The Little Gnome Bookshop as part of the Premier's Reading Challenge. We hope you enjoy choosing your next book.

Well done to everyone recognised at this week's assemblies!

GROW WELL - FORGIVENESS // Our Prep to Year 2 students are exploring the Character Strength of Forgiveness this week.

Forgiveness helps us to accept and move forward when someone has upset us. Being able to forgive allows us to move forward from those feelings, and is often assisted by a genuine apology. A quality apology doesn't make excuses or shift blame, but accepts responsibility, expresses remorse and assures that it won't happen again.

We can forgive without an apology, but understanding how to give a genuine one is also a useful skill!

TEACHER AIDE APPRECIATION DAY // Today we celebrated our wonderful teacher aides with a special lunch as a small thank you for everything they do to support our students and staff each day.

We are incredibly grateful for their care, patience, dedication and the many ways they make a difference across our school.
