Baked Relief South Burnett

In light of the recent significant weather events in the South Burnett region we are planning to activate our Baked Relief support for those affected by the storms and for the helpers assisting with the clean up and recovery. ❤️‍🩹

Drop off points and delivery 🚚
We are in the process of arranging drop off points in the South Burnett and seeking people to help with deliveries to those affected - if you are able to assist with these activities please reach out!

Baking items🍪
If you are able to provide items for Baked Relief that would be fantastic!
- Baked relief items that work well include hardy cakes, biscuits or slices that travel well and don’t require refrigeration (eg fruit cake, ANZAC biscuits)
- Please pack your items in takeaway containers or ziplock bags or wrapped the cakes well for transportation
- Please add a note listing the ingredients to each item
-You may even like to add a note of support or get the kids to pop in a drawing to help keep up the spirits of the recipient!

It's a busy time of year, but it would be wonderful if anyone can help in this way to let our Community know we are thinking of them. Thank you ❤️

Please note - at this stage we will only be coordinating baking from within the South Burnett, however will keep you posted if transport options from beyond the region become available.

💕💕 To all those who have supported Baked Relief at anytime since we commenced in 2011 supporting families affected by floods, cyclones, house fires, bush fires and more floods we have some news and a request for your help. 💕💕

While she has helped to support thousands of Queensland families since 2011 our own Baked Relief founder Danielle Crismani has suffered a family tragedy and she needs our help.

Danielle’s 16 year old nephew Isiah suddenly passed away in November, just two days before his 17th Birthday.

We would like to help Danielle wrap her arms around her sister and her remaining two nephews aged 12 and 18 and the best way to do that is to cater for family meals and all the baking we can muster.

You can help in three easy ways:

1. sign up to this Baked Relief Support ‘Gather my Crew’ link in comments and choose a day if you are able to help with meals or baking and just drop off at a time to suit you.

2. donate to the Go Fund Me link in the comments.

3. share this post.

Drop off for frozen or refrigerated meals or baking is to the esky / box at Baked Relief HQ - 61 Argyle Street Seventeen Mile RocksQLD 4073. Please message us if you need an alternative Spring Hill location.

With thanks and love for any support you are able to provide this Christmas from your Baked Relief Admin Team,

Sally Gardner and Sonia Cuff 💕💕

NORTH WEST QUEENSLAND + DIRRANBANDI

About halfway between Charters Towers and Hughenden in Queensland, fires are raging through White Mountains National Park, coming perilously close to several grazing stations.

Sharon Jonsson, a grazier and supporter of Baked Relief, is leading the efforts to manage the fires in Torrens Creek and Pentland, working alongside the Prairie Rural Fire Brigades. Together with 30 other dedicated volunteers, they have been facing dry conditions and strong north-northwesterly winds as they battled the blaze.

The commitment of all these volunteers cannot be overstated. They have endured sleepless nights and physical exhaustion but continue to push forward with determination and smiles, gathering stories to share later.

As of this update, the fire is now contained, and crews are focused on mopping up and patrolling the area.

Down in Dirranbandi the hard-working RFSQ and QFR firies remain on scene at Dirranbandi, monitoring the bushfire which burned approximately 1700 hectares this week.

It’s been a challenging few days for the town, but thanks to a tremendous effort from firefighters and water bombing aircraft, the township has not been affected by the fire, which remains contained.

At Baked Relief HQ, we have collaborated with the owner of the Hughenden Foodworks, who has been generously providing the crews with treats, food, and water.

We have also reached out to those in Dirranbandi to see what may assist.

Through QCWA Oxley : Cake, Women and Action we are raising funds—every bit counts—and will direct this money to the local Foodworks / IGAs / Local butchers to purchase essential supplies for the crews. This initiative reflects our direct giving philosophy, and we are committed to supporting local businesses whenever we can.

It would be remiss of us to let you know, that on behalf of Baked Relief volunteers and those who have been affected by natural disasters and received Bakedrelief from 2011 until now, we signed the Qld Condolence Book for Queen Elizabeth II.

Our message will be sent to the Royal Family and also recorded in the Qld State Archives.

For those of you who didn't know, HRH welcomed Baked Relief at an official function back in 2011 to pass on her thanks for all that we did as a collective to those affected by the Qld Floods of 2011. Since then there have been several invitations to meet with Royal Family to acknowledge the work you have all done for each other during tough times.
