๐Ÿ”ฅ Hazard Reduction Burn โ€“ Scheyville National Park ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Today, firefighters from the Hawkesbury are assisting the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service with a planned hazard reduction burn in Scheyville National Park, between Scheyville Road and Midson Road.

The burn is being conducted under suitable weather conditions to reduce grass fuels and help lower the risk of future grass fires in the area.

Residents may notice smoke throughout the day. This is expected, and there is no cause for alarm.

If you are affected by smoke:
โ€ข Keep windows and doors closed where practical.
โ€ข If you have asthma or another respiratory condition, follow your health management plan.

๐Ÿ“ฑ For more information, check the Hazards Near Me NSW app. Call 000 only if you see fire outside the planned burn area or an unattended fire.

Thank you for your understanding while this important bush fire mitigation work is carried out. ๐Ÿš’

Yesterday, Hawkesbury Headquarters RFS had the pleasure of visiting Richmond Public School to take part in their โ€œThank a First Responderโ€ Day alongside NSW Police and Fire and Rescue.
It was a fantastic day, and the students had so much fun exploring the fire truck, learning about what we do, and even having a go at knocking down some โ€œflamesโ€ with the hose.
Seeing the excitement on the childrenโ€™s faces and having the opportunity to talk about fire safety and emergency services made the day very special for our crew.
A huge thank you to Richmond Public School for inviting us to be part of such a wonderful event. We truly enjoyed spending time with the students and staff and helping celebrate the amazing work of first responders.
Thank you for having us!

Big thank you to Busy Bee Hawkesbury Playgroup for inviting us along today. We had just as much fun as the children. ๐Ÿš’

Today, 30 April marks the end of the Bush Fire Danger Period for all Local Government Areas (LGAs) across NSW, with Gwydir, Mid-Western, Moree Plains and Narrabri ending their fire restrictions today.

While landholders no longer require a fire permit, you are still required to notify the and your neighbours at least 24 hours before lighting a fire. To notify the RFS, please complete the online form available on our website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify

Please note that in some areas, you may still need an environmental permit from your local council or permit from Fire and Rescue NSW. You must also be aware of restrictions on the size and materials permitted in burn piles.

For more information on safe pile burning, visit the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/safeburning
