Homes Tasmania’s Queens Walk housing complex in New Town has been recognised with a major architecture award.
The site now features 149 social and affordable rental homes following the completion of a 65-unit expansion in August last year.
The expansion, designed by architects Cumulus Studio, won the Residential Architecture – Multiple Housing category at the annual Tasmanian Architecture Awards.

We are continuing to work to deliver new homes and better support for women across Tasmania, including 10 new social housing units planned for women in Launceston (pictured). Upgraded facilities at Hobart Women’s Shelter and expansion works at Karinya Youth Services are also helping provide more safe and supportive accommodation for women in need.
The April Dashboard shows that 4 854 households have been supported through housing programs since October 2020, including 63 households during April.

Homes Tasmania tenants are significantly more satisfied with their homes compared to the national average, the 2025 National Social Housing Survey has revealed.
The survey shows Homes Tasmania tenants reported higher satisfaction than the national average across a range of other important measures, including being the most satisfied in the country in terms of the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of their homes.

Thousands of Tasmanian social housing tenants are set to benefit from upgrades to their homes under a $14.6 million energy efficiency program expansion.
Upgrades include window glazing, hot water heat pump systems and improved insulation.
