Tasmanian Parliament

Tasmanian Parliament Parliament consists of three parts: the Crown, the Legislative Council and the House of Assembly. These three acting together make State laws for Tasmania.
(5)

It is the task of Parliament to provide a forum for the people's elected representatives to debate the important issues of the day and make laws accordingly. The Governor has an important formal role as part of the Parliament. The Governor summons, prorogues and dissolves Parliament on the advice of the Premier. When summoning Parliament, the Governor makes a speech to all members outlining the Government's legislative program for the forthcoming session. The Governor also acts on behalf of the monarch to give the royal assent to bills passed by the House of Assembly and Legislative Council. It is through Parliament and the free speech of its members that matters of public concern can be raised.

Hi, this might be of interest to you: on Tuesday, 28/11, 6:30PM at the VILLAGE CINEMA, Collins Street, there will be a thought provoking documentary on how to approach the economy differently showing. It's not too late to book tickets for this event.
Thanks goodness Rosalie Woodruff has bought some intelligence to the current industrial fish farming debate
Disgusted by the current quality of debate on fish farming.

Hi there, I'm interested in having a discussion with a minister or representative regarding instigating progress with an improved electric car charging network as has been already carried out in other states in the country. I believe Tasmania's slowness to move with progress in this critical area in light of our supposed 'clean state' image is embarrassing. Even 2 years ago I went to an AEVA meeting and the then minister was taking the talk but I have seen no government action since - this is pathetic. It is not too late to make out mark and make up for lost time. The infrastructure is already there, it just needs relatively cost effective means of drawing on the energy. A direct meeting with the relevant person in a position to engage AND act is required. I look forward to meaningful discussions soon.
Guy Barnett..not all Tasmanians are the rednecks. There are some of us who can actually see through your rhetoric....destroying our state with your out moded ideas is not the way ahead. Mining and Forestry has cost the Tasmanian tax millions of dollars over the years that could have been put to far better use in essential services such as health...what a debacle that is...use the money you have for more inventive and forward thinking ideas for our state... not resurrecting 1950's industries.
KI Ferry issue. INCAT could build a purpose built gas powered high speed cat. local jobs, local investment. its a no brainer. yet here we are with a temporary solution that isnt working. fix it
very disgusted by vote against euthenasia. WE the PEOPLE want the right to die with dignity. YOU who voted against it should loose your seats as you are supposed to represent the people NOT your personal opinion.
