Congratulations to Tarryn Turner, one of our local responders 👏👏

🌟 Australia Day – Citizen of the Year Awards 2025 🌟

Congratulations to our Young Citizen of the Year Award Recipient for 2025, Tarryn Turner. 👏

This award is presented to a young emerging leader who is making a real difference in the community.

Tarryn's involvement with the Karoonda Country Fire Service demonstrates his willingness to step up in times of need. Over the past two years, he has been a volunteer, assisting in fire and rescue efforts and committing to additional training to enhance his skills and better serve the community. His plans to complete advanced courses in Breathing Apparatus and Road Crash Rescue demonstrate a passion for ensuring the safety and well-being of others.

Beyond his work with the CFS, Tarryn has been a key member of the Karoonda Bowls Club for the past three years. Not only is he a dedicated playing member, but he also serves as the Club Treasurer, showcasing responsibility and leadership.

Described by those who know him as kind-hearted, humble, and always willing to help, Tarryn represents the values of service, dedication, and community spirit.

📌 Please join us this Sunday the 26th of January, from 9am at Sandalwood Hall for the Australia Day ceremony and breakfast to celebrate Tarryn being our Young Citizen of the Year award winner for 2025!

Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL

For people in Adelaide Metropolitan, West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland and parts of Mount Lofty Ranges, Murraylands, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.

Issued at 6:46 am Monday, 30 May 2022.

Damaging winds possible over the area indicated, heavy rain on the Mount Lofty Ranges..
Weather Situation: A deep low pressure system near Kangaroo Island and a cold front to the east are all moving eastwards.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible over the area indicated, before easing later on Monday.

Locally HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the Adelaide Metropolitan area and the Mount Lofty Ranges this morning, easing during the afternoon. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 40 - 50mm mm are likely.

Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Renmark, Ceduna and Leigh Creek.

Between 5:45 and 5:50PM on Sunday, winds gusted to 96 km/h at Thevenard.

Banksia Park recorded 30.2mm in 1 hr to 5:45am

Golden Grove recorded 30.2mm in 1 hr to 6:15am

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water;
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains;
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS

For people in Adelaide Metropolitan, West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland, Murraylands, North West Pastoral and parts of Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula and North East Pastoral districts.

Issued at 10:22 pm Saturday, 28 May 2022.

Damaging wind gusts developing with showers and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.
Weather Situation: A cold front moving across southern WA this evening will strengthen on Sunday morning as it moves into western parts of the state. The front will continue to track east, reaching Adelaide during Sunday evening.

Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WINDS GUSTS in excess of 90 km/h with showers and thunderstorms are likely over the West Coast and southern parts of the North West Pastoral districts from Sunday afternoon.

DAMAGING WIND GUSTS will extend east between around Marree and Keith during Sunday night before starting to contract from the west during Monday.

Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Whyalla, Renmark, Ceduna, Roxby Downs and Leigh Creek.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
