BANNERMAN ROAD HAZARD REDUCTION

Just letting the residents in the Annangrove, Kenthurst, Kellyville and Glenhaven areas know that there is a planned hazard reduction burn taking place today and tomorrow.

Smoke will be present in the area today and tomorrow. Crews have been preparing this burn for some time now and will be taking advantage of the favourable conditions.

There will be contraflow traffic for a period on Bannerman Road on today so please factor this in if you are going somewhere, and please slowdown in the burning area.

Key actions include:

- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
- Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns
- Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
- Remove washing from clotheslines
- Ensure pets have a protected area
- Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up, turn headlights on
- Sightseers must keep away from burns for their own safety

If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice.

For health information relating to smoke from bush fires and hazard reduction burning, visit the NSW Health website or Asthma Australia.

🟧EXTREME FIRE DANGER🟧
- Monday 1st December -

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Monday 1st December. The Greater Sydney Region is forecast to experience Extreme Fire Danger with hot, dry and windy conditions.

Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Be ready to act. Report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

🔸These are dangerous fire conditions.
🔸Check your bush fire plan and ensure that your property is fire ready.
🔸If a fire starts, take immediate action. If you and your property are not prepared to the highest level, go to a safer location well before the fire impacts.
🔸Reconsider travel through bush fire risk areas.

🚫TOTAL FIRE BAN RULES🚫

➡️ No fires during a Total Fire Ban

➡️ During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire.

➡️ General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity that produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open.

➡️ The NSW RFS strongly recommends you reconsider activities such as such using a tractor or slashing, to help reduce the chance of a fire starting on your property.

❗️Reminder❗️

✅ Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent dehydration.

✅ Avoid Prolonged Outdoor Activities - especially during the hottest part of the day. Seek shade and take regular breaks if you need to be outside.

✅ Slip, Slop, Slap – Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and protective clothing.

✅ Check on Others – Look out for vulnerable people in our community, including elderly neighbours or those with health conditions.
