26 May, National Sorry Day, National Healing Day

We reflect on the importance of listening to and honouring the stories of Stolen Generation survivors, alongside truth-telling and continuing the journey of healing and reconciliation.

KCS attended Bayside Council National Reconciliation Day at Rockdale Town Hall and had the honour to meet with Aunty Brenda Mattews who shared her story and talk about her book the last daughter, a true story of love, loss and reconnection.

National Volunteer Week is Australia's largest annual celebration of Volunteering, between 18 - 24 May 2026.

It recognises the contribution of millions of volunteers across the country and invites everyone to discover how giving their time and talents can create connection, purpose, and stronger communities.

This year Kogarah Community Services held a Thank you High Tea to our volunteers who have been in our GrandPal program, over the last 6 years. Without the volunteers we would not have had the opportunity to run our Intergeneration GrandPal program.

KCS was also invited to attend the NSW Premier's Volunteer Reception 2026 on Friday 15 May held at Meers Hall, Art Gallery.
Our 4 volunteers that attended have been volunteering with KCS for 5 years.

On behalf of KCS, we wish to thank all our Volunteers and acknowledge their work and invite others to discover the benefits of volunteering.
