Today was a disappointing outing for our Amateur squad, with losses against both the Reserves and First Team. While the results were not what we were aiming for, they highlighted areas that require improvement as we continue to develop as a group.

Individual errors once again proved costly, leading directly to goals conceded and impacting our confidence on the field. When mistakes occur, they can affect not only our mindset but also our ability to make positive decisions under pressure. Maintaining composure and staying focused throughout the game remains an important area for growth.

Football is a game of continuous learning, and setbacks provide valuable opportunities to reflect and improve. Every player should take time to honestly assess their performance, identify areas where they can do better, and use those lessons moving forward.

The true measure of a team is not how it performs when things are going well, but how it responds to adversity. Resilience will be key as we prepare for next week's challenge against Mindarie. We have an opportunity to regroup, work hard at training, and come back stronger together.

The focus now is on learning from today's performance, supporting one another, and ensuring we are ready to compete with greater determination and discipline next week.

Although the result did not go our way last week against Amateur Premier Kingsley Westside, our Amateur First team will be looking to bounce back against Forrestfield United this weekend.

Our Reserves return to action after a week off and will be eager to make amends following their defeat away to Belmont.

Get down and support the boys!

In extremely challenging weather conditions, the Westnam First Team faced Premier Division outfit Kingsley Westside in the Round of 16 of the Cup. Coming up against a side two divisions above them, our boys knew they would need to be at their very best—and they certainly delivered.

From the opening whistle, Westnam showed great determination, discipline, and character, matching their higher-ranked opponents in every area of the game. Despite the difficult conditions, both teams produced an entertaining contest, with our lads displaying resilience and teamwork throughout the 120 minutes.

After a hard-fought battle, and goals to Andrew Khasuwan and Steve Kunej the scores remained locked at 2–2, forcing the match into a penalty shootout. Unfortunately, luck was not on our side, and we were unable to convert enough of our spot kicks to progress to the quarter-finals.

While the result was disappointing, there is plenty for the team to be proud of. Coach Rafiq praised the players for their outstanding effort, commitment, and attitude, highlighting the way they represented the club with respect, passion, and excellent sportsmanship. To take a Premier Division side all the way to penalties is a testament to the quality and character within this group.

The cup journey may have come to an end, but the performance has given the squad plenty of confidence moving forward. Attention now turns back to league action as we prepare for Round 7, where we will take on Forrestfield United. The team will be eager to build on today's performance and continue their positive momentum in the league campaign.

Well done to all players, coaches, and supporters who braved the conditions and represented Westnam with pride.
