A notable call-out in Laidley today 7/6/26 involved extracting a rather large Coastal Carpet Python from a Ford Transit's engine bay where it had sought refuge to warm itself near the motor. Given its size, the snake could potentially prey on small animals. We effectively and safely relocated it to a more suitable location in natural bushland, far from populated areas and livestock, allowing it to thrive undisturbed.

Upon arrival, our team quickly determined it was a harmless Keelback snake, which was safely relocated to natural bushland away from properties and livestock. It's worth noting that snakes remain active during winter, contrary to the common misconception that they disappear with the season.

Some of you might be aware that, Behind the scenes of snake catching and raising the kids, our days don’t end when the call-outs do ❤️

We come home to our little hobby farm… where tiny, fragile lives are waiting for us.

Right now, we’re caring for several baby animals — some rescued from heartbreaking situations, and a few extra special little ones who need round-the-clock care, extra warmth, and so much patience. These babies depend on us for everything… every feed, every cuddle, every bit of comfort and safety.

With winter creeping in, the nights are getting colder, and it’s becoming harder to give them the environment they truly need to survive and thrive.

We’re doing everything we can to build a proper nursery, including a neonatal space — somewhere safe, warm, and secure. Not just for the babies we have now, but so we can keep saying “yes” to the next little life that needs saving.

But the truth is… we can’t do this on our own.

If you’d like to be part of their story, you can help by donating bottles and cans. Every single one makes a difference — helping us buy milk, feed, and the materials we need to build this space for them 🍼

We’re also so grateful for any spare materials that could help us along the way.

Red Bellied Black Snake from Hatton Vale 17/4/26.
Found a nice little hiding spot between the pipes of a water tank using the leaf litter ect as camouflage. It didn't trick us though as we found him and relocated him safely to natural bushland away from people, properties or farmland.

Remember if you see a snake keep calm, keep eyes on the snake, this gives us a 98% chance of being able to safely relocate it for you, Remove children and pets from the area if safe to do so, if you can take clear a picture of the snake so we can give you a positive i.d if you happen to lose sight of the snake before our arrival.
Winter is coming and this is the time of year snakes are looking for shelter for the colder months so getting rid of that clutter from around the house/yard you've been meaning to do, but just haven't got to yet might be a perfect little spot for them this winter.
