Lara Secondary College Lara Secondary College is a Years 7-12 co-educational school established in 2003.

Our vision is to create a safe and dynamic learning environment where students are empowered to achieve their full potential through living our values: Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment and Respect. Our community is located in a semi rural setting to the north of Geelong with easy access to both Melbourne and the Surf Coast. Our long awaited Secondary School opened in 2003 and has grown to a stable population of just over 800 students, with students in Years 7 - 12. Our local community now has access to outstanding facilities with the completion of our Middle Years Centre which includes open learning spaces and specialist facilities. Our new buildings have enabled flexibility in our teaching approach to further enhance teacher practice to meet the needs of the 21st century learning. Our high quality facilities are matched by the passion of our teaching and support staff who are dedicated to supporting every student in achieving their very best. As a community of learners we place emphasis on developing student connectedness and engagement through our broad range of innovative curriculum - the result of extensive research to find 'best practice' across Australia and the globe.

🏕️ Year 10 WILD Camp!

Our Year 10 students are three days into their WILD Camp, making the most of the great outdoors, enjoying the serenity and trying their luck with a bit of fishing! 🎣

A great opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, spend time with friends and make some lasting memories.

A big thank you to Kim and Mr Richards for making this fantastic experience possible for our students.

🎉 What a night, Lara! Over $5,000 raised! 🎉

Our very first Lara Secondary College Trivia Night was a huge success, with over 140 people coming together for a fantastic night of fun, laughter and fundraising!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised over $5,000 to support our students! 🩵

A huge thank you to our incredible School Council, who put so much time and effort into bringing this event to life. To our staff, parents, families, current and past students, and friends of the College who came along and supported the night – thank you for making it such a memorable one.

A special shoutout to Mr Graham, our incredible quizmaster, who kept the questions coming, the laughs rolling and the competition alive all night!

And of course, congratulations to our very competitive Maths staff, who took out the trivia night victory! 🏆We’re not sure anyone was quite as determined to win as they were… and we have a feeling we’ll be hearing about their victory for some time to come in the staff room.

To our generous local businesses and sponsors who donated prizes, auction items and supported our fundraising efforts – we are incredibly grateful. Your generosity played a huge part in the success of the evening.

More than anything, Friday night was a wonderful reminder of the community we have here at Lara Secondary College. Seeing so many people come together to support our school and our students is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Thank you, Lara! We couldn’t have done it without you. 💙

And after a first night like that… we might just have to do it all again next year, bigger and better in 2027.. we can’t wait to see you there!

This semester, students in the Workshop Program have been busy creating personal projects using recycled and reclaimed materials. This program gives students the chance to take a break from the classroom and get stuck into hands on work, whilst working positively in a team. Check out the fantastic work by Lily ( picnic table), Stevie (bedside table ) and Lara ( egg laying box ) 🔨

💙 ONE NAIL. ONE CONVERSATION. A POWERFUL MESSAGE.

You might notice something a little different about Daniel from our Wellbeing Team – he’s sporting a blue fingernail for a very important reason!

Daniel is supporting Polished Man, a movement raising awareness and funds to help end violence against women and children.

The idea is simple. Paint one fingernail, spark curiosity and start a conversation. That small splash of colour becomes a visible reminder of an issue that deserves everyone’s attention.

We’re proud to see Daniel helping bring this important conversation into our College community. 💙

Sometimes, making a difference starts with something as simple as asking, “What’s with the nail?”
