Welcome to the official page of Bulgul! This is a 100% not for profit website and has been set up to explain, educate and inform people about the community of Bulgul, its people, lifestyle, history, and possibly what the future holds for the community and its residents living in and associated with the area. Bulgul is a small community situated on the western side of Wagait Reserve approx

imately 220km south west of Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia. Bulgul is a coastal community which lies across from the Perron Islands in the Timor Sea. It is home to the Wadjigan tribe which have lived in the area along the coastline, from south of the mouth of the Daly River to Dum inMarie Island, many years before white settlement. Currently there are very few permanent residents living in the community throughout the entire year but the population swells with a temporary influx of families during the dry season. Bulgul is the Wadjigan name for the area where the community is situated but prior to this the Wadjigan people were primarily a coastal nomadic tribe that lived at many sites along the coast as well as islands off the mainland. The climate would be described as sub-tropical to tropical with wet and dry seasons playing an important role for flora and fauna in the region and therefore impacting on the abundance of food for people living off the land.
