Get excited for Australia's FIFA World Cup match against Türkiye this Sunday, but don't let influenza steal the spotlight.

The annual flu vaccine is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and over and is the best protection against serious flu illness.

Talk to your GP or pharmacist about getting vaccinated or book a free vaccination at one of our clinics here: https://www.swslhd.health.nsw.gov.au/populationhealth/PH_unit/immunisation.html

Congratulations to Ahmed Jamal, Quality Manager in our Clinical Governance Unit, for receiving an Emblem of Kindness!

The Emblem of Kindness is a special staff recognition program to celebrate the small acts of kindness happening across the NSW Health system every day.

Ahmed demonstrates ongoing kindness through his compassionate and supportive leadership, particularly to team members experiencing significant personal challenges.

He created a safe, non-judgemental environment, proactively redistributing workloads and providing regular check-ins to ensure staff feel supported, valued and able to balance their personal and professional responsibilities.

His genuine empathy and openness provide psychological safety and strengthen trust, encouraging open conversations about wellbeing and building a more connected and resilient team.

Congratulations to Melanie Eade for receiving an Emblem of Kindness!

The Emblem of Kindness is a special staff recognition program to celebrate the small acts of kindness happening across the NSW Health system every day.

A new speech pathology graduate in 2025, Melanie provided strong peer support within her cohort. She organised regular catch-ups to create a safe space for reflection and connection, while also offering guidance, encouragement and practical support.

Her thoughtful gestures extended to the wider team through sharing home baking and preparing therapy resources. Her support enhanced the new graduates’ experience, helping them navigate their first year with greater confidence.

The connections she made have continued beyond the program, contributing to a lasting culture of support within the team.

Every day Melanie reminds us that kindness lives here.
