Malvern Valley Primary School has a school population of approximately 300 students. The school is located in the inner-eastern suburbs, 13 kilometres from Melbourne and close to Chadstone Shopping Centre. Our average class size is under 23 students. The school grounds include extensive gardens, basketball courts, an AstroTurf Futsal Court, a full-sized Soccer Pitch and Junior and Senior adventure

play equipment. A technology-rich environment assists students to be engaged in their learning and allows them to apply their literacy and numeracy skills in innovative ways. The extensive learning infrastructure at the school includes subject-specific spaces including a STEM Robotics Studio, Art & Science Room and Performing Arts space, whilst iPads, laptops and TV panels in every learning space ensure students learn in a contemporary environment. 🎂🍰 Cake Raffle Fame Awaits! 🍰🎂

We have a winner! Congratulations to this fortnight’s Cake Raffle Champion! 🏆

After hundreds of hopeful glances, a mountain of anticipation and some very serious ticket-purchasing, our lucky winner has claimed this week’s delicious prize.

Rumour has it they’re already deciding whether to share it with their family... or hide it somewhere safe and enjoy it all themselves! 🤔🍰

A huge thank you to our brave bakers for being our superstar bakers this fortnight. Your delicious creation had everyone dreaming of afternoon tea!

🛶🌊 We started our morning with a canoe! 🌊🛶

Our Year 3/4 campers hit the water bright and early for some serious paddling… and some not-so-serious steering! 😂

There were smiles, splashes, a few questionable directions and plenty of teamwork. 🚣‍♀️💦

Day 2 is off to a cracking start! ☀️🙌

📚🦛 BOOK WEEK AT MVPS! 🦛📚

What a fantastic Book Week Parade! It was wonderful to see so many students and staff get involved, dressing up as their favourite book characters and bringing some of our most-loved stories to life. The creativity on display was incredible, and there were plenty of smiles, laughs and great costumes throughout the morning.

Sadly, Ms Tinetti missed the parade because she was stuck in a “meeting” 😭. She was especially disappointed because her favourite character, the hippo from There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake, made a special appearance!

The good news? The hippo arrived safely at school and enjoyed some cake with the staff at lunchtime. 🎂🦛

The even better news? She stayed well away from the roof all day!

(Although a few people may have looked up there just to be sure... 👀😂)

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make Book Week such a memorable celebration of reading, imagination and storytelling.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

The Preps have officially left the building... and survived their first BIG excursion! 🚌💨

From tractor train adventures 🚜 to feeding hungry farm animals 🐐🐖🐓, patting reptiles 🐍, and discovering all things farm life, our little explorers were busy!

But let’s be honest... for many, the bus ride was the true main event. 😂

The verdict? “BEST DAY EVER!” (with 100 Days of Prep still holding a very respectable second place 🏅).

Watch out world, these future adventurers are just getting started! 🌟

📣🎂 CAKE WINNER! 🎂📣

We think it might be time to investigate... 🤔🍰

A huge congratulations to this fortnight’s Cake Winner, who has now won TWICE! 🎉🎉 That’s right, a second cake win! We don’t know if it’s incredible luck, a secret ticket-buying strategy, or some kind of cake-attracting superpower, but we’re impressed! 🍀😂

This week’s delicious prize was an amazing Biscoff cake, and we’d like to send a huge thank you to our wonderful cake bakers for creating such a mouth-watering masterpiece. 🤎🍰 We only hope the winner is willing to share... but after winning twice, we’re not making any assumptions! 😆

Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and supported our school fundraising efforts. Your support helps make a real difference for our students and school community.

🚧🪣 Breaking News: Major Development Underway in the P-2 Sandpit! 🪣🚧

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of our Junior School Council during last term’s PJ Day, our brand-new sandpit toys have arrived!

Since their arrival, we’ve seen an explosion of construction projects, castle developments, roadworks, excavation sites, mud pie bakeries, and imaginative play. The P-2 students have certainly been putting them to good use! From cooking up gourmet mud pies and sandy cupcakes to building towering castles and bustling construction zones, the new toys have quickly become a playground favourite.

A big thank you to our school community for supporting this initiative. Every gold coin donated helped make this happen.

Our JSC gives students a genuine opportunity to lead, contribute ideas, and make a difference to school life. Seeing students identify a need, raise funds, and then watch their idea come to life is exactly what student voice is all about.

The only downside? We’d like to apologise in advance for the extra sand that may be making its way home in your child’s shoes, socks, pockets, and possibly their lunchbox! 😂🏖️

Thank you to our amazing JSC members for turning a great idea into something that is bringing so much joy to our students.

📚✨ ATTENTION MVPS PARENTS! ✨📚

It’s that time of year again... Book Week Dress Up is next Friday, 28 August!

Parents, it’s time to dust off the sewing machine, raid the dress-up box, get creative with the cardboard, or make a last-minute dash to Kmart! 🧵✂️🦸‍♀️👸🐉

Students are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character for what promises to be a fun-filled day celebrating books and reading. We’ll kick things off with our fabulous Book Character Parade on the Astroturf at 9:05am. Parents and special friends are warmly invited to join us and cheer on our literary legends!

After the parade, students will take part in a range of activities inspired by this year’s shortlisted books.

We can’t wait to see the amazing costumes, creative ideas, and much-loved characters come to life. Who will we spot? Harry Potter? The Very Hungry Caterpillar? Matilda? Bluey? We can’t wait to find out! 📖🌟

❄️⛷️ SNOW CAMP — DAY 2! ⛷️❄️

WOW. WOW. WOW. 😍

If Day 1 was about finding our ski legs, Day 2 was about finding our confidence! 🚀

Some of our students who were feeling a little deflated after yesterday’s falls got back out there today and absolutely ROSE to the challenge! They gave it another go, pushed themselves, listened to their instructors and, most importantly, kept getting back up whenever they hit the snow. 💪⛷️

And the confidence growth has been THROUGH THE ROOF! 🙌

We even had students flying down the slopes yelling “I LOVE SKIING!” 😂🎿

There have been big smiles, high fives, plenty of laughter, some very impressive skiing and, of course, the occasional face plant into the snow… because apparently that is also part of the learning process! 😂❄️

What has been even more impressive is the way our students have supported each other. We have heard so many words of encouragement, seen students celebrating their friends and watched them realise that sometimes the hardest part is simply having the courage to have another go.

This is resilience. This is confidence. This is learning outside the classroom. This is Snow Camp! ❤️

Two days down and already SO many memories being made. We can’t wait to see what Day 3 brings! 🏔️⛷️❄️

❄️⛷️ SNOW CAMP — DAY 1! ⛷️❄️

And just like that… the memories have officially begun! 🏔️❤️

Today was one of those “this is why we do it” days at MVPS. The excitement when our students saw the snow for the first time was absolutely priceless! There were squeals, huge smiles, snowballs, plenty of laughter… and probably a few children who now believe they are destined for the Winter Olympics! 😂🎿

Our students tackled their first ski lesson with incredible enthusiasm and resilience. There were some impressive turns, some spectacular tumbles and lots of getting back up and having another go. 💪⛷️

At MVPS, we pride ourselves on giving our students opportunities to experience, explore, challenge themselves and create memories that they will talk about for years to come. Today was certainly one of those days! ❤️

We’re pretty sure the teachers are already hearing, “This is the BEST CAMP EVER!” 😂

And the best part? This is only Day 1! ❄️🏔️🎿
