i am lola

i am lola Lola's Vintage is: 1966 Franklin Styleline Mostly it had to be FUN. It was just as much about the experience as the fact that they made time for each other.

WELCOME TO THE STORY OF LOLA...

As most of you know, things have been a little rough for sometime, and beyond a little stretched. With my new...limited working capabilities - and my new approach to my 'new life' I had to find a way to generate an income that I believed in, could manage even on the bad days - and care about. Now at this point a normal smart person may have considered a data entry

job, or a telemarketing job from home - but no one who knows me has ever considered me normal OR smart ;-) so....

Enter Lola...

As a child I envied those families who went on caravan holidays and have spent the last four years or more actively looking for a van of some sort. So, given my new situation - why not still live my dreams, and get the caravan - but share the experience by providing an affordable and unique option for you all too. And hopefully one day soon Lola will not only have paid her way, but be providing a small income for me to care for and manage her social life! To me the caravan/campervan/camping experience was, and still remains the epitome of family/couple togetherness. Getting away from our homes/jobs/classes and routines - in a time created especially for each other. These days our holidays are similar to our lives – rushed, planned by iPhone schedule entries and post it notes. We rush to pack, rush to get there then we proceed to rush around doing all the ‘things’ we think we should be doing be it restaurants, theme parks, movies. When do we make time for each other? I don’t know about you, but I long for that nostalgic time, when it was about togetherness – not a race to the destination. A time when the journey began when the car was loaded (often before). A time when our senses weren’t so overloaded that we hear everything BUT each other. Board games, conversation, toasted marshmallows – playing bad 90’s music in the car (according to your kids). When do we stop, talk, rest and appreciate the incredible beauty that surrounds us? When do we appreciate the magnificent beauty of the amazing country we live in? It’s rich culture and the vibrant colours of its landscape? When do we really see? When do we really hear? That’s what Lola is to me. I won’t lie to ya folks, in spite of how romantic and nostalgic I’ve made this sound - I’m NOT your side of the road, tent pitching under the stars kind of gal. I don’t do sleeping bags or share my living space with spiders. I like nice sheets, being warm and love good décor. Above all, I like to know I’ll stay dry through the night and not share my bed with any unwanted guests. Lola was born in November1966, so that makes her a 46 year old Scorpio. Needless to say, she’s seen some things and knows what she does and doesn’t like! She’s been lovingly restored and decorated. Lola isn’t feminine or masculine (we call her our lovely lady-boy – not unlike her owner!). Her style is timeless, earthy, rustic, organic – with punches of modern (she moves with the times). She has everything you need – and even a few extras you don’t. We are still in the process of tarting her up, but she will very very soon be ready to take you away wherever your heart desires. She can sleep three comfortable – (four if two of them are small people). She is wired with electrics – but long terms aim to be able to get off the grid entirely – and the fridge is 3-way so you don’t need to plug in at all if you’re happy with candle light and candles at night (supplied). She has 2 gas cook tops (one is removable so you can stir fry in the great outdoors if you wish or cook a feast for plenty). Rather than take up space with plumbing & sinks, we clean the dishes via a big pot on the cooker – sounds a bit twee, but you’ll be amazed how well it works. The sleeping layout is really flexible, the sheets are pure cotton, as are the stunning waffle weave covers. The pillows are a plenty, and we even threw in some yummy feather pillows for that extra touch of luxury. Lola is small (***Insert Tare) so she hooks up to most standard cars. As per previous, Lola sleeps three comfortable (double bed and single) but the single bed can be configured with an extra panel to form an L shape so you could get two kids at each end comfortably. She’s perfect for a couple – leave the table up and keep the bed down! We’ve kept the cushions free form and flexible so you can be flexible and creative with your sleeping arrangements. There is also an Extra inflatable Queen size mattress included if you do decide to have a night under the stars…
