Last week, Marsden Park Rural Fire Brigade and NSW RFS - Eastern Creek Brigade were honoured to attend the Girls on Fire Mount Druitt Fire and Resilience program.

The Girl's on Fire program objectives are to build confident, capable and resilient young women and we hope our involvement was able to accommodate in achieving that mission.

As a part of the day, the girls got to ride in the Category 1 Tanker, use a Live-Reel to extinguish a live fire and learn about what volunteering in the Rural Fire Service is about. Unsurprisingly, there were a few girls who were already participating in the cadet programs offered by some local brigades which was awesome to hear, and those girls were able to lead their crews in regard to the taskings they were given.

Learn more about the Girls on Fire program here:

https://girlsonfire.org.au/ and take note if you're over 16, you can apply to be a member of our next Cohort of Fire Fighter candidates by registering here.

This weekend, the will deploy its CH-47D Chinook helicopter and a Bell 412 support aircraft to fight fires in France. This will mark the Service’s first-ever European deployment.

The aircraft will be accompanied by 24 highly skilled aerial and ground crew, and transported to France in partnership with the Australian Defence Force.

The Chinook, equipped with an 11,300-litre belly tank, has the largest payload of any firefighting helicopter in Australia. Working with the Bell 412, it is also capable of conducting waterbombing missions at night. Should it be tasked to do so in France, it will be the first time night-time waterbombing has been undertaken in the country.

Commissioner Trent Curtin says the deployment is a testament to the expertise of our aviation crews.

“We're proud to share that expertise with our international partners while strengthening the relationships that are so important when disasters occur around the world."

🖤💛❤️ Happy NAIDOC Week ❤️💛🖤

This week, we celebrate the history, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and acknowledge their enduring connection to Country.

As a brigade, we are proud to serve on Dharug Country and recognise the knowledge, traditions and care for Country that have been shared by First Nations peoples for tens of thousands of years.

This artwork was created by one of our brigade members as a tribute to NAIDOC Week. It brings together symbols of our brigade, firefighting and the landscapes we are privileged to help protect, and is inspired by Aboriginal art styles as a respectful acknowledgement of First Nations culture.

We thank the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work and volunteer, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We also acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who continue to strengthen our communities.

From all of us at Marsden Park Rural Fire Brigade, we wish everyone a safe, meaningful and enjoyable NAIDOC Week.

🚒 Congratulations to Our New Firefighters! 🚒

A huge congratulations to the members of Cohort 2 who have successfully completed and passed their FF Assessment, officially achieving their Firefighter qualification.

This is a significant milestone that reflects the hard work, commitment, and dedication each member has shown throughout their training. We are incredibly proud to welcome these firefighters into our ranks and look forward to seeing them continue to grow, learn, and serve our community.

Well done to everyone involved, and thank you to the trainers, and assessors who supported them along the way.

Congratulations, Cohort 2, we can’t wait to have you on the truck!
