Josefa de Ayala, a 17th‑century Portuguese Baroque artist, was known for her religious art, using light and motifs from her native Spain. Here her depiction of a lamb at passover represents Christ, innocent and flawless, bringing peace through his blood.

Pope Leo XIV's first Encyclical Letter, addresses the issues of AI in an increasingly conflicted and confusing world. I love this section:
"
Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. Each generation inherits the task of shaping its own era, of guiding history to become a place where the dignity of every person is safeguarded, justice is promoted and fraternity is made possible. Yet every era also runs the risk of creating an inhumane and more unjust world. Whenever humanity is in danger of marring its true identity, we Christians lift our eyes to the Incarnate God, knowing that it is “only in the mystery of the Word made flesh that the mystery of humanity truly becomes clear.” [1] In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness."
We're getting a print copy soon, but you can also read it for free online at the Holy See website.

Because Christ is both priest and flawless sacrifice, we don't have to do this anymore and can approach the throne of Grace with confidence ( Hebrews 4:16), knowing that Jesus has mercy on us..

This engraving of "A sacrifice" reminds us of the lengthy and messy system that the priesthood administered in the old testament. Jesus, as lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, was the sacrifice, slain for us. This beautiful engraving is from the Mannix Library special collection.
