Hilariously funny hall stories with comedian Damien Callinan filled Glen Eira Town Hall with laughter yesterday.

From mod and sharpie dancing bought to us by those that had seen Lobby Lloyd and the coloured balls at the town hall to a reenactment of the Queens of the halls from 1957 and a quiz about our first woman councillor and Mayor Gladys Wallace Machion.

Thanks to an amazing audience for their participation and Damien and the staff who saw the potential for this production.

Keep your eyes peeled for more Glen Eira Arts and Culture gems.

Congratulations to all the contributing artists and the Godfrey Street Community House on another successful and inspiring community art exhibition.

Young, experienced, late starters and first timers are all represented and the walls of Godfrey Street are crammed with their impressive output.

Happy to have attended the launch on Friday evening with Arabella Daniel - Councillor for Glen Eira - Jasper Ward to wittness the awards.

There’s still time to vote for people’s choice, so pop in.

Hats off to the artists, committee, and staff.

Last night I attended Glen Eira Council’s Storytelling Festival authors talk ‘From One Idea to Another’. Authors Wil Kostakis, Melanie Cheng and Anna Snekstra discussed their writing methods, inspirations and frustrations with Jacinta Parsons at the Glen Eira Town Hall. It was a lovely discussion with great insights and stories from authors I am now looking forward to reading. Thank you to Benn's Books Bentleigh for being on hand to give me immediate access. Thanks to the Glen Eira City Council - Arts and Culture team for making this event happen.

A message from Kelli Lawson, our Breakfast Club Coordinator:

Dear families, I'd like to share a simple method of finding out how to access food support in your local residential area or within close proximity.

Step 1: go to foodbank.org.au/find-food

Step 2: Search your suburb or postcode

Step 3: Choose the type of food you need - "Food and groceries to prepare" or "Meals prepared on site"

Step 4: Choose a service from the list to find more information.

A local food support within close proximity to Glen Eira College is:

Emergency Relief: 1134 Glen Huntly Road, Glen Huntly 3163.

(03) 9571 7644

Simply go to foodbank.org.au/find-food and key in 3163 for Glen Huntly. This page will take you to the information regarding food items available and opening times.

Home Food Packs available at GEC
The generous support of Foodbank Victoria continues to be the backbone of the success of the GEC Breakfast Club, providing much needed breakfast food items and healthy snacks for GEC students. Home Food Packs are available to pick up from Glen Eira College, providing breakfast food items.
If you would like a Home Food Pack for each child, please let us know on 9571 7838 so that you can collect from the General Office.

Thanks to James and Mark for opening Glen Eira’s storytelling festival last week with a welcome to country and a story about our infinitesimally unique planet and opportunity to live in harmony.

The weather wasn’t kind, but our arts and culture team pivoted and Benny Walker warmed us with a beautiful acoustic performance and his songs in the Carnegie library forecourt.

This was a magical evening. Keep your eye on The Glen Eira arts and culture social media feed for more of these wonderful opportunities.
