📅 Mark your calendars!

The St Kilda Repair Café is back in 2026, meeting on the second Sunday of every month from 2:00–5:00 pm at the Port Phillip EcoCentre.

Have a broken household item, piece of clothing, toy, bike or small appliance? Bring it along! Our skilled volunteers will do their best to help repair it, giving it a second life while helping reduce waste and keep usable items out of landfill. 💚♻️

We'd love to welcome you—come along, meet the community, and discover the joy of repairing instead of replacing!

🐟❌ South Melbourne Market has officially ditched the plastic soy sauce fish!

These tiny single-use plastics can't be recycled and often end up in landfill or our waterways. 🌊

Instead, shoppers can:
🥢 Use the complimentary soy sauce stations
🫙 Bring their own container
🏠 Add soy sauce at home or work for takeaway meals

A simple change that helps reduce waste and protect Port Phillip Bay for future generations. ♻️💙

You might notice something missing next time you grab sushi or sashimi at the Market… we’ve officially Ditched the Fish ❌

Single-use plastic soy sauce fish have been phased out across the Market. These tiny items can’t be recycled and often end up in landfill or our waterways.

Our seafood and sushi traders are on board, with easy alternatives available:
♻️Use our complimentary soy sauce stations located near the fishmongers
♻️ BYO containers
♻️ Use the soy sauce at home or work when taking away

This is one of many steps we’ve taken in reducing waste and protecting Port Phillip Bay, alongside initiatives like Shuck Don’t Chuck, where recycled oyster shells help restore local reef ecosystems.
