We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our colleague, Muna Yazdin.

Muna was a valued member of Hume City Council for over 20 years and a deeply respected part of our library and community services. Through her work, including many years facilitating Assyrian bilingual Storytime, she created meaningful opportunities for connection, inclusion and belonging.

Muna’s warmth, compassion and dedication touched many lives, and her impact will be felt across our community.

Our thoughts are with Muna’s family, friends and all those who knew her.

Arabic and Assyrian Storytimes will be paused at Broadmeadows and Craigieburn branches until further notice.

We will share further updates as they arise and appreciate your understanding.

Join Hume’s LGBTQIA+ Community Working Group🌈

Are you passionate about creating a more inclusive, visible, and supportive community in Hume, and do you identify as LGBTQIA+ person? Hume City Council is inviting expressions of interest to join its LGBTQIA+ Community Working Group. A space where your voice, lived experience, and ideas can make a real difference.

This group supports Council to deliver actions that strengthen inclusion, enhance visibility, and improve the quality of life for LGBTQIA+ communities across Hume.

📢Application by 5pm, Thursday 18 June

Please note: Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel and places are limited.
