The Lost Dogs' Home and the City Of Port Phillip have partnered to hold an Adult Cat Adoption Day at St Kilda Town Hall on Saturday 31 May!

This adoption day will aim to help find forever homes for adult cats who are often overlooked for the cuter and more energetic kittens.

📆 Saturday 31 May
⏰ 10 am to 2 pm (or until all cats are placed in homes) - whichever is earlier.
📍 St Kilda Town Hall

Some of the benefits of adopting an adult cat include:
😻 A fully developed personality, allowing you to know what to expect in terms of temperament and behaviour.
😼 Require less supervision and attention, making them suitable for busy lifestyles
😹 Adult cats are often calmer and more relaxed than kittens, making them a good choice for those who prefer a low-energy pet

So, if you’ve been thinking of adopting or need a cuddle buddy, why not come along and see if you find a new best friend!

2024 CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVE

It is time to officially kick off the 2024 Annual Christmas Toy Drive! With our shelters close to running out of toys and treats, we’re asking you to be Santa’s helpers!

Hundreds of lost and abandoned dogs and cats will spend Christmas at the Home this year and your gift of treats and toys will make sure they have an extra-special festive season.

When buying treats and toys for your pet this Christmas, please consider popping an extra one in your cart to give to a homeless dog or cat.

For details on the types of toys our animals would love – and the toys that can’t be accepted due to safety reasons head over to dogshome.com

Donations can be dropped off at our North Melbourne and Cranbourne shelters during opening hours. We really appreciate your kindness and generosity.

For your first year, it’ll only cost you $8.25 for cats and $13.75 for dogs . A ripper deal for peace of mind, and the potential to save you big bucks.

Strathmore dog owners, you'll soon be able to exercise your dogs even earlier in the morning and later into the evening 🐶

Our team is hard at work this week installing energy efficient solar lights at the Alf Pearce Reserve Fenced Dog Park.

We'll have to temporarily close the park for a couple of days while we install them, but it'll be well worth it.

📍 Alf Pearce Reserve Fenced Dog Park,
5 First Ave, Strathmore
🚧 Thursday 21 - Friday 22 November

We'll keep you posted once the install is complete.

We are calling on pet lovers to put their hand up and join the team as foster carers in the lead up to the holiday season.

The Lost Dogs’ Home is on the lookout for around 200 new foster carers to look after kittens, cats, puppies and dogs to help them get ready for adoption and provide some respite away from the shelter.

We currently have approximately 300 foster-carers but that number is expected to decline quite significantly as people start taking holidays in the lead up to Christmas.

But we are hoping with your help we can get as many animals as possible into loving temporary homes over this holiday season. To find out more about being a foster carer with The Home visit http://dogshome.com or email [email protected]
