Grassroots leadership programs are some of the best ways to start your journey in building your own skills to support you throughout life.

Last night, I had the great pleasure in presenting our 2026 Greater Shepparton Community Leadership Program participants.

With the support of facilitator Shane Garner, I commend those who committed to the program throughout the year and encourage others in our community to consider this program in future years.

Celebrating 15 years of Activities in the Park 👏🏼

More than 2,400 low cost or free activities have been delivered across Greater Shepparton during this time, with close to 120,000 participants getting involved - what an achievement!

The program began 15 years ago as a joint initiative between Council and Parks Victoria, and quickly grew into the much loved seasonal program we know today.

Well done to everyone involved in its success over the past 15 years 🎉

Great to celebrate the Shepparton Senior Citizens Club’s 68th birthday today and recognise the incredible contribution they make to our community.

For 68 years, the club has brought people together, fostered friendships, connection and a strong sense of belonging. 

Congratulations to President Kerry and the entire team on this incredible milestone and for all you do to keep members active, engaged and connected.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Last night, I was advised by The Nationals that my nomination for pre-selection for the Shepparton District at the 2026 Victorian State Election has been accepted.

The Shepparton District is a place that I am proud to call home, and it deserves a strong voice in Parliament - someone who understands local issues, listens, and fights for practical outcomes.

As Mayor, I have worked hard while focusing on delivering real outcomes - from advocating for major investment and infrastructure to supporting local businesses and strengthening our local economy. This experience has reinforced my belief that strong regional communities need strong regional representation.

This work aligns with the values of The Nationals, and I share their commitment to backing regional communities, agriculture and local businesses, tackling crime, fixing our roads, protecting water security and fighting for the fair investment regional Victoria deserves.

Being Mayor has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. It has given me the opportunity to work alongside our community, through both the good times and through some of the most challenging times our region has faced. It is the people of our region that I am most proud of and want to continue to represent at a state level.

From here, I will continue in my role as Mayor and fulfill my responsibilities until the pre- selection process concludes on Saturday 5 September 2026.

I will have more to say once that outcome is announced.
