With the burn off fire ban ending on the 16th March just be aware that there is still a lot of heat and hot weather around.

Be safe and remember those that come to help are volunteers.

So as the season is near its end extra training and family night was held . With some new members coming on board . We got out the hoses and tested our foam capabilities .

Shout out to our LTs Steve and Greg and our Apparatus Officer Daniel for helping train the new recruits .

If you’re thinking about joining or volunteering come on down Tuesday nights from 5pm and meet with the team.

As we head towards the end of fire season if there is such a thing a quick shout out to a few of our members who went to help out in Dongara Port Denison last weekend.

Captain Bradley Barbuto and LT Steve Almen were part of a strike team that went to assist and relive those coming off night shift.

LT Steve joined some career boys on the Saturday and we thought we lost him to the dark side.

He returned to join Capt Barbuto on Sunday who was appointed Sector Commander for the Dennison Side of the Fire.

Along with Cassie and Amanda from the Dongara brigade they helped save boats and sheds. Then checked on golf course before saving the tip and the town from a new fire that sparked up Sunday lunchtime.

Well done boys and thanks for the remainder of the Morawa crew who wanted to go but someone needed to stay back in case of issues locally.

With water bombers coming in most of the day the heat and ferociousness of the fire truly tested all who were there.

Shout out to all the crews that came from far and wide to support the communities of Dongara and Port Denison.

Training makes us better prepared. Last week we had the opportunity for our BA ( Breathing Aparatus) fire fighters to requalify their BA and ECO qualifications .

Ably assisted by the rest of the brigade volunteers Steve Alman and Bradley Barbuto passed their course meaning that they are once again qualified to enter a house or structure or attend road crash with hazmat chemicals.

Congratulations and well done to the whole team for helping out.

Thanks to AO Mark Strickland for coming out and for Luke Aubrey from Dongara for joining us to requalify himself.

Well another training course for our amazing volunteers. Last weekend we were trained by amazing legends of the Kalbarri SES. A big thanks to Steve Cable and Henrick Strand . We were joined by our area officer Matt Castaldini for the Team Member Search course.

A challenging weekend learning search techniques that can be used for forensic searches , locating missing people or helping police search for clues or evidence .

Like most of our training we like to be prepared however we hope we don’t have to use it.

Thanks to all our team for giving up their weekend to get qualified in more skills.

Shout out to the Morawa Speedway volunteers for catering the course .

Soups were delicious and sandwiches lovely.

Here are a few snaps of our training.

Remember if you are interested in becoming a volunteer come on down to the station most Tuesday nights we are there training or message us here for some more information.

Happy Birthday to Our Captain Clare and congratulations to Liam voted in as an active member of the brigade.

So as we continue to burn the golf course for training nights . Some members gave up there Saturday to head on down to the Tigers Den. Morawa sports oval home of Morawa Tigers Sports Club

It was Belt up round for Country Football WA.

We took the Road Crash Rescue Vehicle and other trucks down to show off the skills our volunteers have.

Morawa Shire President Karen Chappel and Deputy Shire President Ken Stokes popped in to say thanks to the volunteers who keep our community safe.

Showing off some skills on the Jaws of Life. (The cutters used to cut people out of road crashes ) FF Steve and FF Liam gave demonstrations to the community. FF Daniel and AO Bradley showed the kids of the community over the trucks and the capabilities of our volunteer brigade.

Thanks to the Tigers for allowing us to be a part of the day and spread the message of why it’s important to wear seat belts .

As much as we have the skills to assist in a road crash we’d rather not have to use them if people are safe and by wearing your seat belt as this saves lives.
