Congratulations to all the old and now some new councillors!

Yes, I’m sad I’m not part of the team as I was truly looking forward to contributing to our Shire’s future but the election campaign was such a great experience, had so much fun getting to know more of my fellow Eurobodallians - the issues we have, the things we are proud of and what we are working towards.

I would like to thank my campaign team John Hawke, Krystal Tritton and Gary Traynor for their help, could not have done it without you!

The next 5 to 10 years are going to be massive and exciting for the Shire with the new hospital and the development growth predicted.

I can’t wait to see how this new council works on and comes up with for the master plans for the Bay, Narooma and Moruya - balancing the demands of essential unavoidable new developments with the environment and the character of each town and village.

Now back to selling oysters, counselling amazing people from our community and raising chickens for me 👍😄💙🐣🐣🦪

🌾 Celebrating Eurobodalla's Aqua & Agricultural Enterprises! 🌿

One of the greatest strengths of our beautiful Eurobodalla Shire is the rich diversity of rural enterprises that not only sustain our economy but also preserve the natural beauty and character of our land. From small family farms and local orchards to sustainable aquaculture and innovative agricultural ventures, these businesses are the heart and soul of our region. We grow beef, pork, fresh eggs, fruit n veg - tell or remind me of what else SAGE Moruya!

As someone who is personally involved in our local oyster farming industry, I know firsthand the incredible potential of aquaculture. This industry provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, creating jobs that are not only rewarding but also environmentally sustainable. 🌊🐚

Aquaculture is a true win-win for Eurobodalla: it makes the most of our natural resources while contributing to biodiversity and strengthening ecological systems. These businesses can help us grow sustainably, offering eco-friendly opportunities that respect and enhance our unique environment.🌱

The Narooma Oyster FestivalFestival just keeps getting better and better every year and is a wonderful celebration for both locals and tourists of the oyster industry.

The incredible work done and the business built by Sea Urchin Harvest Kina harvesting pest urchins for their yummy roe is inspirational.

And nothing beats the fresh Narooma Seafood from the beloved Taylors! 🐟🐟🐟

Let’s continue to support and encourage these enterprises, ensuring future generations can enjoy the same bountiful land and seas we do today. Let's celebrate the passion, dedication, and innovation that make Eurobodalla’s rural and fishing community so special. 🎉

And I’m very excited to attend the Co-Op Discussion: Southlands Fruit & Veg proposal on Thursday 12th at 5pm at the Moruya Golf Club to explore the explore the possibilities of a co-operative business model that could work to increase local food production, support local growers, encourage new growers, create opportunities for First Nations led native food production, support local employment, keep the food and money in our community!

Together, let's keep Eurobodalla growing and thriving! 💚💙💚

🌿 Building a Better Future for Eurobodalla Shire 🌿

As our beautiful Eurobodalla Shire continues to grow, it's essential that we embrace smart and sustainable development. I believe in smart infill development - where we focus on building up rather than spreading out into suburbia. This approach not only preserves our natural environment but also supports a vibrant, sustainable community.

However, I also recognize the need for diverse housing options, including family homes and social housing, to ensure that everyone in our community has a place to call home.

I understand how frustrating it is for our community to want more housing while being deeply concerned about the risks of wholesale, poorly planned development that could wreck our natural areas. We don’t have to choose one or the other. My goal in running for Council is to ensure that Eurobodalla grows with purpose, balancing development with the preservation of our stunning natural surroundings.

I’ve heard the fear that Batemans Bay and other towns could turn into the next Gold Coast. Let’s be clear—this fear is the ultimate form of NIMBYism and fearmongering. Would you prefer our bush areas being totally cleared for sprawling suburbia, with housing options only suitable for employed families? What about retirees wanting to downsize, disabled people striving to live independently, or young people eager to start their lives in apartments or townhouses that they can afford to rent?

As I pointed out in the About Regional article, the Gold Coast’s Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise beach front narrow strip has an average height of 30 to 60 stories. Even if we allowed more height in the Bay, it would be 10, maybe 20 stories at most. I’m tired of hearing people claim they want housing... but only the kind they deem acceptable. This mindset is the thinking of the privileged who feel entitled to keep things as they are for themselves yet happily claiming green platforms whilst in truth denying the variety of housing options that could benefit people of all ages and abilities in our area.

And side note imagine this—how great would it be to green the roofs of the Pelican Plaza and other shops so the view as you enter the Bay is lush and green, not just the tops of boring malls? Or to have apartments with living, green vertical walls?

Let's embrace our growth and do it right, creating a bright future for all. Let's be the leader in how this can be done well.

Together, let's build a stronger, more sustainable Eurobodalla. 🌱

🌟 Feeling grateful about our awesome shire towns! 🌟

From the charming Moruya country village vibe, with its cosy small businesses and warm-hearted locals, to the laid-back coastal ease of Narooma, where every day feels like a vacation—I'm soaking it all in. And let’s not forget Batemans Bay, where the city vibe blends perfectly with stunning views and the vibrant energy of industry and shopping. Each place offers its own special magic, and I’m so lucky to experience it all.

Broulee's culture of beach, coffee shops, and wonderful Broulee Brewhouse add delightful places to be from early mornig to night for our community, while Mogo's wonderful shops are a treasure trove of unique finds. Beautiful Tilba Tilba, with its beautifully preserved heritage buildings and artisan spirit, is truly a gem that captures the heart of our region... looking at you Tilba Valley Winery & Ale House!

Here’s to the wonderful mix of country, coastal, and city life we ahve! 🏡🌊🏙️💖

Small local businesses are the heartbeat of each town and village, shaping their unique feel and charm.
If elected in September, I will work diligently alongside these businesses to build on what makes each area special.
The master plans for Batemans Bay and potentially Moruya will be decided over the next term, and I’m committed to ensuring that the voices of small businesses are heard in these crucial discussions. More on these important plans coming soon!

In the meantime name your favourite small business...
And yes, totally name yourself! 😝🩷✅

Disappointing News.... But Hopefully an Easy Fix!

It has been deeply disappointing for me to learn that caravaners are currently not allowed to stay at the Showground! Apparently, we are one of the few Showgrounds that don’t allow this. We all remember how important the Moruya Showgrounds were not only during the bushfires but afterwards when many grey nomads stayed on in their caravans to become BlazeAid volunteers – side note thank you so very much for your work in our Shire, BlazeAid Grey Nomads!
Why use the Showgrounds for short stay caravans…
• Easy Revenue: Allowing caravans to stay for up to 3 nights at $25 / night like Braidwood and Berry do would generate essential funds for the showgrounds, helping with maintenance and improvements.
• Ideal Location: The showgrounds are in a prime spot—caravaners could easily walk to town, enjoying our local shops and businesses, all while staying in a private area away from residential zones. The site offers stunning views of the Moruya Golf Course, making it a perfect, picturesque spot for visitors to relax and appreciate the beauty of our town.
• Horse Accommodation: Horse transporters have expressed their desire to use the facilities as they transport horse to and from Sydney and Melbourne. And guess what - the Showgrounds have great yards exactly for this!

It’s time we find out why this isn’t happening as it would not only benefit lovely caravaners, but our entire community.

Let’s ensure our public spaces are utilized to their full potential across our Shire.
And it’s possibly not just the Showgrounds in Moruya - give me some more examples of places and buildings we could be utilising better for the community and for visitors across Eurobodalla - South Coast NSW.
We have such a great community, let’s see what more we can do! 🫶✌️😜💚

Very enjoyable and informative meet the councillors yesterday afternoon at Batemans Bay Soldiers Club. Almost all Mayoral and lead candidates took the time to let our community know their position on important local government issues, such as development of our major towns, housing, the environment and other topics. It was a shame that we did not hear from all the groups campaigning for a council seat.

Thank you to “Our council Our say” for organising and MCing the event.
