🐢 Our beaches are nurseries right now, and tiny turtle hatchlings need our help to make it to the sea.

Loggerhead and green turtles are nesting and lay their eggs in Noosa's dunes.

Walking, driving, or creating new tracks through the dunes can crush nests before hatchlings ever reach the sea. Artificial lights from homes, cars and torches can also send baby turtles the wrong way.

Our Natural Areas team and community volunteers are out there protecting nests but they need our help. 🌊💚

Here’s how you can help this nesting season (Nov–Mar):
• Stay off the dunes - use only designated beach access points when visiting Noosa’s eastern beaches.
• Drive responsibly on Noosa North Shore - drive only at low tide on firm sand. Driving on dunes crushes nests and kills hatchlings.
• Avoid night driving on the beach at Noosa North Shore - headlights disturb nesting turtles and disorient hatchlings as they try to reach the ocean.
• Reduce artificial light - keep lights away from beaches so hatchlings can safely find the sea

Today, U.S. health authorities updated childhood vaccine guidance, reducing the number of routinely advised vaccines on the childhood schedule.

That didn’t happen in a vacuum.

It happened after years of parents asking questions, doctors calling for better evidence, and advocates demanding that childhood health policy be reviewed, not rubber-stamped.

For too long, families were told that asking for scrutiny meant being “anti-science.”
What we’re seeing now is the opposite. Science is being re-examined, recommendations being reassessed, and policy adjusting accordingly.

This change is not the end of the conversation.
It is the beginning of accountability.

It shows that schedules are not immutable, that recommendations can evolve, and that public pressure, transparency, and persistence matter.

To every parent who spoke up.
To every family that refused to be silenced.
To every advocate who pushed for review instead of compliance.

This is a first step.
And first steps change the direction of the road.
