π₯ Burning Off in Cardinia Shire π₯
The Fire Danger Period has officially ended for the 2025/26 Season. Regulations relating to burning off now come under the jurisdiction of Cardinia Shire Council.
Under the council laws, there are set days in the week where it is permissible for residents to burn off. These days can differ depending on the zoning of your residential address. To check your zone visit: www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/burningoff
We urge residents to take care when burning off as there is still plenty of dry undergrowth. Just because you can burn off, it doesnβt always mean that you should. Always check weather conditions first. It doesn't take much for a spark or ember to spread and evolve into a larger fire that becomes unmanageable.
Never burn off on windy π¨ days β
Always keep burn piles manageable β
Always have adequate water on standby β
Always extinguish your fire when finished β
Stay safe!
With the easing of fire restrictions across most of Victoria, itβs a good time of year to consider your burn-off requirements for property maintenance and preparation.
The Fire Permits Victoria website is a quick and easy way to notify emergency services of planned burn-offs, enabling our TZV call-takers to prioritise genuine emergency calls and avoid the unnecessary dispatch of firefighting resources.
Registering your burn-off online allows emergency responders to focus on actual emergencies, not false alarms. Visit firepermits.vic.gov.au to register.
