Officer Fire Brigade

Officer Fire Brigade Officer Fire Brigade is a 100% volunteer CFA brigade situated 50km south east from Melbourne. Officer fire brigade was founded October 1942.

We were donated the land on Station Street in Officer where we currently still operate. Officer is a blend of hilly scrub and forest to the north, urban housing (growing rapidly!) through the centre of town and flat, grassy farmlands to the south. We are continually training to support any possible circumstance we may come across within each typology. We currently have three appliances in our engi

ne bay. Our primary appliance is a 2001 Type 3 'medium' Pumper, our secondary appliance is a 2015 Medium Tanker which can carry 2350 litres of water. Officer is a specialist brigade and as such a 2017 Ford Ranger 4x4 support is our third appliance. It carries our LP Gas gear and Land / Water booms. The LP Gas gear is used to make safe LPG cylinders in cars, BBQ's etc when damaged. We are always looking for new recruits. So, if you live in the Officer area, and you want to give back to your community through fire and rescue, please come down to the station any Sunday morning between 9am and 12pm to chat with the current members to find out more.

Today our brigade gathered for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service, standing together in reflection, gratitude, and respect for those who served and sacrificed for our country.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget. 🌺

πŸ”₯ Burning Off in Cardinia Shire πŸ”₯

The Fire Danger Period has officially ended for the 2025/26 Season. Regulations relating to burning off now come under the jurisdiction of Cardinia Shire Council.

Under the council laws, there are set days in the week where it is permissible for residents to burn off. These days can differ depending on the zoning of your residential address. To check your zone visit: www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/burningoff

We urge residents to take care when burning off as there is still plenty of dry undergrowth. Just because you can burn off, it doesn’t always mean that you should. Always check weather conditions first. It doesn't take much for a spark or ember to spread and evolve into a larger fire that becomes unmanageable.

Never burn off on windy πŸ’¨ days ❌
Always keep burn piles manageable βœ…
Always have adequate water on standby βœ…
Always extinguish your fire when finished βœ…

Stay safe!

With the easing of fire restrictions across most of Victoria, it’s a good time of year to consider your burn-off requirements for property maintenance and preparation.

The Fire Permits Victoria website is a quick and easy way to notify emergency services of planned burn-offs, enabling our TZV call-takers to prioritise genuine emergency calls and avoid the unnecessary dispatch of firefighting resources.

Registering your burn-off online allows emergency responders to focus on actual emergencies, not false alarms. Visit firepermits.vic.gov.au to register.

Recently, the Officer Fire Brigade had FRV Fire Station 93 (Pumper 93) join us out the back of our station for a Road Crash Rescue Support (RCRS) capability demonstration.

The crew walked our members through their rescue equipment and techniques, showcasing door removals, B-pillar removals, and the operation of hydraulic cutters and spreaders. While a pumper may not carry the full suite of specialised equipment found on a dedicated Rescue or Heavy Rescue appliance, the capabilities they do carry can still be highly effective in the early stages of an incident β€” particularly in providing immediate intervention and support.

One of the highlights was seeing our members get hands-on with the tools β€” many experiencing the weight, power, and control of hydraulic rescue equipment for the first time. Gaining that practical understanding builds confidence and awareness of what can be achieved on scene.

Engaging in training like this strengthens the relationship between our two organisations and ensures we have a clear understanding of each other’s capabilities and limitations. That shared knowledge and cooperation ultimately enhances the service we provide to our community when it matters most.

A sincere thank you to the shift from FRV Fire Station 93 for their professionalism, expertise and willingness to share their knowledge!
